Not the best rum I have ever had, but it is a nice, clean, young spiced rum that sips ok and mixes well...

It has none of the industrial, metallic, chemically taste of most American-made rums I have had recently...

Beats most of your commonly available mass market rums in the Captain Morgan/Bacardi range...I beleive it beats a similarly priced Mount Gay

This rum is a fine rum, lightly spiced. It is fairly smooth. Definitely a huge step up from a sailor jerry or Bacardi. Grab a coke, a clear ice cube and enjoy yourself a glass of this!

This is a replica of the AaFES military Tavern whiskey. Seriously, I poured an ounce of each and had some one compare. The results were equal. Ouch.

I bought this rum purely because itโ€™s veteran owned and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. I normally mix rum with coke but not this one. I liked it much more than my more expensive Diplomatico!

It's Saturday night and time for the rum review. Distilled in Moore, Oklahoma and 80 proof, LEADSLINGERS BLACK FLAG RUM is a recent introduction to the world. The Leadslingers concept was forged in the winter of 2013,with the rum only a year later, by the members of the ever popular Article 15 Clothing Company. Building upon their deep dedication to bring unique products to the veterans and second amendment communities. The call to make a whiskey and other American spirits as bold as America, was heard like an eagles scream. Leadslingers whiskey is produced by seven Combat Veterans from the US. Army Rangers, USAF TACP, Special Forces and Paratrooper communities.they strive to set an example. Be Proud of who you are. Be bold and have no apologies. Very simular to us pirates. Leadslingers Black Flag spiced rum, yes it is spiced, is distilled using natural ingredients.
Golden wheat straw in color with quick legs that rapidly turn to droplets as the alcohol evaporates.
Whispers of vanilla and caramel aromas are first noticed with each additional aroma adding to the nose. The aroma of new cut oak is present, which makes sense, since they use new oak barrels to age all their proud American spirits.
The entry is smooth and butterscotch like in taste with a very nice warmth as the next flavors of vanilla and dried fruits arise in the mid palette. The finish is very good, pipe tobacco, honey, and oak tantalize the back of the throat begging for more.
Drinking this neat in the 2 oz skull shot in one quick drink, i find that there is a quick burn in the nose but swiftly passes. Over ice brings out and intensifies the flavors described and is even more pleasurable. Unsure as to what to mix with it, I came up with this. 1 oz Black Flag spiced rum, .5 oz extra dry Cointreau, over ice in a large highball glass fill with ruby red grapefruit juice. Very good from an intoxicologist point of view.
So with that I'll just say be proud and have no apologies. Stay safe stay alert stay alive and drink responsibly. Till next week, down the hatch.

This is made by the same guys who make the whiskey, freedom rye and napalm variants. These are military vets and all around swell dudes.
