Powerful rum, more sour tones than f.e. zacapa 23. Much stronger mouthfeeling, darker tones here than zacapa or Don Q gran Anejo. Sweet, cane-like. Still nice for me personally.

Less smooth than reserva but still a great choice in this price

Mantuano has the perfect sweetness balance for my Rum Old Fashioned - a bit of brown sugar, a couple of dips from Angostura Bitter, smash with a bit of ice, and serve with a big cube/ball of ice and a twist of orange peel, enjoy! 🥃👌🏽

This is one of my favorite, not so sweet and not so ostentatious as Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, little bit spicy. Very good balance of taste. Definitely worth the money. I always have this in stock.

8-The nose of this rum of Latin tradition is very typical and very marked. It is a work around caramel, with a well-burnt and dark tendency, lot s of tropical fruit-banana....Coffee and molasses are mixed in to create a dense and concentrated liquid. Then we oscillate between melted wood and notes of wet cardboard, before the pepper comes in to give it a little kick and freshness. But that's without counting on the vanilla which adds to the sweetness and the sugary sensation. A shy little stick tries to pierce the darkness but is quickly swallowed up by an ocean of caramel.
If you slide the rum down the sides of the glass a little, the cane has a chance to stick its head out again. It now appears with its straw and even a little bitter lime zest, all very candied and melted though. The woodiness is dusty, it's a roasted nut dust that's been blown and tickles the nose.

7-The palate is quite balanced and again very typical. There is an impression of sweetness which is balanced by the dryness of the roasted nuts. Then this palate becomes decidedly round and flattering, with notes of honey, molasses, coffee and light tobacco. It remains quite intense and not so sweet. Vanilla appears in touches, linking the wood and the sweetness, again tropical fruit-banana as a leader.

6-The finish is soft and rather discreet, as its tradition requires, this light rum is not intended to impose itself on the palate.

Much better than the base type, much more character, great smell.

Every bit as good (served neat) as the aged Plantations I favor. It’s not as sweet or as smooth as the vaunted Reserva, but enjoyable in its own right. Would make for a great “everyday” type of rum.

Cheaper and better than the more popular Reserva. Less sweet, and approaching what a rum should be

Middleclass rum, not too expensive but also nothing special.
