Great go to mixing rum! Better than most! Can’t complain with the price !
My review might be heavily influenced by the local price (around 20 eur in Slovakia), but Mantuano became my main go-to rum for easy drinking and sharing, especially with not experienced rum drinkers. It is not that as artificially sweet as Reserva Exclusiva, but it's mostly a good thing! It may lose a little bit of smoothness because of that, but it's compensated by fresher taste. Ofcourse, this is not overly complex rum, but it doesn't matter. It's on the sweet side, still relatively smooth with very little heat. An absolute champ in price/quality ratio!

interesting rumbut so young, harsh me.
It's nice but nothing special
I had the opportunity to taste Diplomatico Mantuano at a celebration recently. If you haven't tried it yet and would like to compare it with e.g. Diplomatico Reserva Exlusiva (RE), here are a few observations:
1) Colour - I would say it's the same for both, although it seems to me that the Mantuano is a little darker.
2) Smell - Mantuano is more smelling of alcohol (some kind of spirits), which is probably due to a little less ripeness. The rest of the smell is similar to RE. In my opinion, the aroma is dominated by dried fruits (plums).
3) Taste - this is probably the most important thing for everyone. After the first sip, it first occurred to me that it was so "thinned/diluted". RE is more dense after drinking. Mantuano is so called "watery". It's also a little sharper than RE, but over time it calms down and by the end the taste is not so different compared to RE. Mantuano is also a little less sweet.
To sum it up, Mantuano seems to me like 2nd quality of RE. Is it worth paying extra money for RE? The price difference is approx. 300 CZK (12 EUR). Personally, I prefer to pay the extra money.
Overall rating: 6,5 from 10
It’s sweet with scents of brazil nuts and some butteryness like shortbread. .
"Overall it is a sweet rum. There is a little spice on the palate and a tiny slither of oak. The finish has a little coffee and a touch of caramel. It is smooth and very easy to drink."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I really like Exclusiva which is $60 where I live, since Mantuano is $40 I wanted to see if the extra $20 is worth it. It's definitely worth the extra $$ for Reserva Exclusiva. But this rum is pretty good for the price. El Dorado 12 is also $40 so I'd rather get that next time.
Color - Amber
Nose - I get cherry and coffee
Taste - Vanella and cherry, I get a little bit of rasins too
