The first thing I noticed about this rum was the beautiful nose. It really does smell better than most rums - rich and woody with the permeating wonder of really classical molasses. The taste did not disappoint. This is certainly better than the Reserva that it replaced, but not as sumptuous as the Reserva Exclusiva. Whether you prefer this one to the Exclusiva or not depends how you like your rum. This is certainly more classical. The Exclusiva is sweeter (added sugar), richer and more lushly rich. I'm not sure that makes the Exclusiva better for everyone. I'd say I'd prefer to drink this one more regularly and the Exclusiva on more special occasions or when I wanted to round off an evening. I'd describe them both as good sipping rums, but without doubt the Exclusiva has the edge there. You can tell the family connection, but they are rather different. Frankly, I want both in my cabinet.

Good rum. I quite enjoyed it. I do like Diplomatico reserva. Mantuano is little less complex but still very good.

This is for me one of the best mixers. Tried it solo - nothing special, but in cuba libre and rum old fashioned it shine.

This is the best quality rum I have had at this price point. Strong flavours and nose at first but by your third sip its a smoother. Hints of coco or Carmel in the finish. I will be adding this to my collection to age.
This one surprised me: I was expecting decent rum, but it turned out to be way more complex and tasty than I presumed.

Has a wood and spicy taste. Sweet on the nose but not at taste.

Nothing extraordinary. Bitter tones of cocoa and harsh burn.
Itβs sweet with scents of brazil nuts and some butteryness like shortbread. .
"Overall it is a sweet rum. There is a little spice on the palate and a tiny slither of oak. The finish has a little coffee and a touch of caramel. It is smooth and very easy to drink."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
