Light bodied rum wtith hints of brown sugar, caramel and litghtly oak. Boring finish
No great, not bad. The reserva one is much better and worst of the few extra bucks.
Not a good rum compare to reserva exclusiva..for this money you have so many better rums to buy.
Not so sweet and complex like Reserva Exclusiva, but typical Diplomatico character. Shorter aftertaste. Ideal for mixing or not so much experienced visits 😁
This is like a younger sibling of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva. The same flavours are there, but not nearly so deep and strong. Now for many, and myself included, this could be a good thing, I find DRE to be a lovely drink, but OTT in sugar and flavourings, the odd nip is nice to experience but more than that it is cloying and a tad sickly.
Mantuano, however, is lighter in taste, but to my palette, has way too strong an alcohol/chemical burn and taste.
If Diplomatico made a rum somewhere in between the 2 it might just be near perfect.
I really enjoy this rum. I look forward to trying others from this distiller. As always, I prefer my rum over ice with a healthy splash of Coke.
This pours a rich mahogany colour and has a wonderful nose. Diplomatico rums have always suited my taste, so I was hesitant when they replaced the Reserva with Mantuano. The Reserva made a better rum and coke but the Mantuano is a it smoother making a better sipper. Not as sweet as DER but just as good.
Overall a perfectly acceptable offering. Reasonably priced , a lot less sugar than D.R.E. and a nice mixer , cocktail rum and at a push , a sipper ! Spicey , not the best spices but the caramel , toffee and raisin flavours keep it in check. Nothing to disappoint.
You can buy it almost in every little shop here, so if there is nothing better, you buy it. It's also cheaper than Reserva. But there is a reason why it's cheaper. The alcoholic smell and taste is too much for me.
This was my first Diplomatico, and my first truly sweet rum. Good rum, very smooth with a notable sweetness. Good enough for sipping, but I prefer dryer rums. Still a good score for excellent value. Looking forward to tasting the reserva exclusiva.
I like Reserva Exclusiva, but Mantuano proved to be a good option.
The distillate has quality, and has less sugar than Reserva Exclusiva.
Simple flavor, but cheap for the quality it has.
Medium amber colour. Notes of vanilla with background of subtle roasted oak. Good enough to sip neat.
Rum na kazdodenne pitie. Nie je taky sladky a chut je velmi vyvazena.
Chuť a potenciál Exclusiva by tam bol, trčí liehovosť a mladší vek ale cena k výkonu je viac ako slušná.
I've tried this rum and wasn't inpessed. It seems have right aroma, right taste and so on but I couldnt pick something special in it (( It haven't hooked me
Intense, nice colour, taste too Intense for my taste, alcohol, pepper and chocolate
This rum works very well and slots into the home bar nicely. First and foremost I like this rum with an ice cube in a lowball glass, but make no mistake this is a supercall tasting mixer! Warm, stout fruit flavors and a little tobacco on the nose. Boozier smelling and tasting than the reserva but less markedly sweet. There are nights this is preferable to me if the mood is right. Overall it is a testament to quality rum making from Diplomatico.
Not bad to je jasný, podobnost s Reservou tam určitá je, ale tak nějak Mantuano ve srovnání s Reservou ať nežeru lepší B třída.
As an introduction to this brand this is not a bad rum. It doesn't have the richness of flavour as some of the others in this brand but with ginger beer is really nice. I find that it is east drinking and a great mixer rum
Dostal jsem ho darem. Na me trochu ostrejsi, ale se vsemi kvalitami Reservy. Do koktejlu je super...na vychutnávání, dávám přednost klasice.
It's not as great as some others I tried. It is a bit hard and rough on your nose - you can smell the alcohol and it sweet, but no so sweet as you'll expect from this price range. The amount of extra sugar is decent? I'd say. Less than a lot. Plus it's much better than any other commercial stuff and cost just slightly more. You'll will have a great sensation in your mouth if you are used to cheap stuff. And you'll get addicted. Eventually. It'll become a passion. Highly recommending for its price/quality value (;
Job well done senor Master blender! (;
It is sweet and pleasant, has slight orange nose, but there is not much going on in the after taste. Maybe slight coffee, but I can be just imagining things.
Reccomendable to main st..........................
Very Similar to the now discontinued Reserva, probably some kind of rebranding based on the also discontinued Anejo. both were removed from the Diplomatico website. first notes after getting the new Mantuano bottle for 35% less the price i used to pay for the Reserva was that it lost some of it's syrupy consistency. Color is still dark and beautiful and aromas strike the nose in a very similar manner. it is very close almost similar in taste although the more itchy biting alcoholic hint in the finish discloses the fact it is younger on overall, probably a compromise of the two discontinued products into a new blend. which might be good for selling their Anejo stocks. Reserva got 9 from me. Mantuano is getting 8 since still it competes well with many other Rums that are ranked at 7 and surely deserves more respect. the whole Diplomatico range is beautifully balanced on the sweet medicinal side and i really enjoy them much more than some more famous "great" Rums. for 50% price i paid for my bottles compared to the still available Reserva the drop in mautration is not reflected by the price. lets just hope it stays in such price in the future.
