Diplomatico Mantuano

Nice color and taste but more of a basic style rum

Great rum to start the night with love it with ginger beer and lots of ice.

Scent of apricot and chocolate, and taste of fruits and spices

This is my favourite so far. Better than Bacardi 8/10 which are similarly priced

Eye:
Nose: syrup, medicine and a touch of wood. Mashmellow also.
Mouth: anesthetic and toothpaste. White choccolate. Spicy finale

If your looking to get Diplomatico just keep your base line at the Exclusiva. No point in dropping down a noticeable tier just to save a few bucks. The Exclusiva is superior in every way and is not much more in cost compared to quality.

Most people would not think of rum to taste like this, especially those who already have preconceived notions on what rum tastes like. In that sense, this is a good rum to introduce them with: woody and sweet without being too overpowering. For its "starter" quality I'd rate it 7, but if it's just for taste I'd dock it a point lower.

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva je často považovaný za jeden z najlepších rumov v cenovej hladine do 30€. Preto som bol zvedavý na jeho lacnejšieho súrodenca Mantuano. Farba tmavšia, vôňa nie je zrovna oslnivá, dosť liehová a dubová. Chuťovo je tento rum trochu surový, so zjavným etanolovým podmazom a stredne nasládly. Dominuje drevo, vanilka, komplexnosť príliš nečakajte. Kým v tele je vychutený celkom obstojne, v dojazde už jasne stráca silu, je až príliš vodnatý. Subjektívne hodnotím slabšou šestkou, s prihliadnutím k cene je na bežný deň OK.
