A basic rum from BVI. A nice simple label. Expected better.

Had a nice color, not as dark as I usually go for, but still a nice amber glow. Bottle is awesome, good presentation. I think that is where a good portion of the manufacturers cost went though.

Good vanilla flavor but it feels unnatural, bolstered. Molasses flavor comes through the vanilla a bit but not very sweet, it's a pretty dry one. A bit on the astringent side but bearable. Goes well paired with an ice cube or neat. Definitely better if you let it breathe a few minutes.

It'll do in a pinch if you're looking for a sipper, but not my go to for sure. Definitely above well rum and the standard big name stuff, but I wouldn't call it premium. I have a rough time putting this anywhere close to the top shelf, but it's good enough I hate to cut it with anything other than an ice cube or mint sprig.

It's a rough call tbh, but a solid 5 in my book.

This one seems to have gotten confused with Bones Gold, which apparently has been discontinued. It specifically states on the bottle that it is aged dark, so yes, it has added color and sugar, but kept in check. I actually prefer their Spiced Rum over this one. When a Total Wine store finally opens soon near me, I will be able to buy this one again.

Update only one week later: Testing side by side against my recent lowest rated acquisition (Topper's Spiced), it was not any better. So I had to move my rating down to a 6 right below Topper's Spiced. It is extremely rare for a distiller to have their spiced rum taste much better than their main rum, and such is the case here with this rum that has no declared spices. In other words, the spice disguises a borderline crap ass rum! I won't buy this one again and it may very well tumble down to a rating of a 5. How in hell they turned out something good with their Spiced version from this crap is beyond me. Trade secrets!

This is not your sipping Rum, but with a splash of Coke Zero its not bad. Good when laying out at Coki Point Beach listening to loud reggae.

Smells like alcohol and nothing else. Decent vanilla and caramel flavor but I've had better. Definitely a mixer.

So much alcohol flavor, no real flavor. Smells terrible, only tolerable with lots of Diet Coke.

You get a fruity sweet note to the nose. You get a vanilla root beer smell to me. Definitely a mixer. I should have tried with root beer but overall good.

Ive seen people talking aboyt bones gold. However ive found only the bones alone rum. Not bones gold. It does have the smooth rum for the rough sea slogan on it. So i assume its the same brand. To be honest it smells just like captain morgan private stock. However it goes down easier. And thats what makes it a better rum to me. The bottle looks like a legit pirates rum. I mix it. And i love it. Definitely a new found favorite.
