The first things that struck me was the colour, which is dark mahogany. There is little on the nose compared to most rums. I got a hint of pepper and very faint molasses.
On the tongue, I found it a little disappointing. It's not a bad rum for sure - better than average, actually - but given some of what I have read and that this is their best regular rum, I was expecting more. On the tongue, I did not find much complexity. I got mainly wood and the a stronger alcoholic warmth than usual. There is a little tobacco in there too. It's quite dry, but also very warm. - which I found was the main aftertaste.
Další rum co mi bude chutnat i nadále.
First, my nose and palate can’t sense all of the nuances some others can. That being said, I enjoyed this. After it sat in the glass for a bit, it had a nice smell that reminds me of maple syrup, similar to some other rums I really like. It had a pleasant taste, not too sweet, not too sharp. I had a wonderful after taste of oak. It went surprisingly well with my snack of salami, aged cheddar, and garlic stuffed olives on the deck.
Luktar helt fantastiskt, smak av framförallt plommon, blir trevligate och trevligare ju fler gånger jag dricker den,. Väldigt annorlunda

Enjoyable to sip, this is a very mild rum, well rested. I didn't get anything extraordinary out of it, just nice and relaxing.
Burnt sugar nose. Very thick and rich palette with notes of toffee and banana. Sickly sweet banoffee finish, almost too much
There are notes of sweet mixed fruit and a little bitter marmalade.
"Sipped the Family Reserve is initially very sweet. On the tongue, especially you get sweet caramel and a chocolate mouthful initially."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very unique rum. Smells like burned sugar and fruit. This is also present in the taste. First sip was a bit harsh, but the 2nd sip onwards was really nice to sip on. My palette is not advanced enough to describe all the different flavors, but this is something special alright.
Big step up from the regular Black Seal, which is a decent mixer. Gave this one an 8, but is very close to a 9. Might upgrade after a few more glasses.
