Bermuda | Dark | 40% ABV

The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.

Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

I like this one, its the perfect mix rum.
Its very smooth and sweet (but not too).
Great price also.

I found the colour of this rum to be somewhat unusual. A deep rich red colour more than a dark brown. The guy at the liquor store suggested I try a Dark and Stormy so I had to get the official ingredients to start that journey. This is a good rum, pretty well balanced like the barrel on the seals nose would suggest. Not sure I would buy it again but it was certainly a rite of passage to educate my palate.

Best for dark n stormy. Gives a great unique taste and aroma. Nice on the rocks, great with dark sodas.

Ah, when I was young and didn't know what "good" rum really was! Which is not to say that this stuff is bad - oh, no, my friends, not at ALL! I like Gosling's Black Seal with Coke & a wedge of lime on ice. Rich and sweet, with a little spiciness pushing through, of course, and some almost-burnt butterscotch/caramel taste at the very end of the finish (aftertaste) gives this rum some serious character! Worth a try.

An inexpensive rum in the States, but very dark and sweet. I would never consider it a sipping rum and it is far too sweet for a rum and coke. It must get its black color from some additive. I've never tried a Dark and Stormy, but I can see that may the ideal mix--a little spice to cut the sweetness.

Quite a dark rum but not as strong as it looks. A great mixer, & very easy to drink, but is on the sweeter side of things with a dryness at the end. The only problem I have with this rum is the $70 price tag. If it was $40 I'd be back for more.

Had my first Goslings Dark & Stormy in August 1970 at the Sonesta Beach Hotel in Southampton Bermuda. I've been enjoying them ever since at home and on our frequent visits to Bermuda. Yes, I also sip this over ice usually after I have enjoyed 3 fingers of Zacapa.

Pure a bit hard but when enjoyed with coke it still shows excellent notes on the tongue.

To bad this rum is most known for a dark 'n stormy.
Yes it's great to mix with a gosling ginger beer but I also like it in other dark rum cocktails or even mixed with cola from time to time.
