The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.
Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

Dark n Stormy essential. I've used other more expensive rums in a pinch. Just not the same.
Very decent dark rum for mixing. Not so good neat, but still a decent rum to try!
Got this rum mainly for this drink, and it's it's a really good drink. The rum itself is fruity, sweet and earthy. Also works well with Coke. All around it goes down easily.
It's a smooth rum with a little kick I find nice to mix with
Flavor is full, great neat or on ice. A splash of coke works well too.
I had this rum in a seafood restaurant where they smoked the rum in house. This rum was good to start with but once smoked, and with some ice, it went to a whole new level. When you fist taste it you immediately get the smoky flavor. From there it becomes very dark and smooth. I haven't had it regular but I would imagine that it would be great in a Dark and Stormy.
Iv'e always skipped this bottle since it never appealed to me. Finnaly decided to give it a try and it pretty good. Not to strong with a good taste for a mixer.
I've been drinking the dark and stormy for years. I decided to taste the rum neat.
Aroma is pretty medicinal. Strong nutmeg, allspice and clove taste. Kind of am odd aftertaste. This is certainly not meant to drink neat.
'well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel'
"Goslings Black Seal rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
The nose is very pungent. Heavy thick treacly molasses and sweet caramel.
"It’s initially sweet like liquorice, there is a little heat and spice in the mix and the finish is long and slightly bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

i had bought this bottle a few years ago to have a dark mixing rum in the bar. Opened it tonight and straight thought it had a strong coffee aftertaste. I don't drink ginger beer for a dark & stormy so mixed it with ginger ale. Ok as a mixer for my taste but not a sipper.
