The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.
Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

I really like this rum, but admit that I first tried it on a cruise to Bermuda. We've been to Bermuda several times since so this rum, and the drinks I make with it, remind me if those trips. I stand by my assessment though. Great choice for mixing.
I probably like this rum more than most. The color is a bit off putting but the taste is superb. Highly recommend for mixing.
Never heard of this rum before until I bought a bottle. Not really buying it again because of the strong alcohol. Taste and smell are good, just not pure.
Nothing much to say - there are many better rums on the market
Owning the trademark for the Dark N Stormy, Goslings Black Seal is the only allowable choice unless you fiddle with the name of the cocktail. That said, it makes a pleasant DnS- if paired with a great ginger beer and fresh lime juice. Goslings makes its own ginger beer, but I won’t be buying that again. Way too sweet.
From looking at the bottle one might think goslings is a cheap rum and price wise it might be, but it is actually quality stuff. I'm not the biggest fan of spiced rums, but can appreciate from time to time. Goslings Black Seal is about synonymous to Kraken. Don't expect much complexity, but this is solid stuff. If you enjoy a sweet, spiced rum that goes down smooth, give Goslings Black Seal a try. It serves as a great mixing rum that can even be enjoyed over ice.
a lovely black rum, goes well as a mixer. but i found after i finished a bottle i wasn't in a hurry to replace it.
I really like this rum. I like it better than many of the “premium” rims out there. The price point is great, too. Best in a Dark and Stormy (which the drink is named for) or. Cuba Libre.
'well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel'
"Goslings Black Seal rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
The nose is very pungent. Heavy thick treacly molasses and sweet caramel.
"It’s initially sweet like liquorice, there is a little heat and spice in the mix and the finish is long and slightly bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Dark and stormy or bust

I enjoy black rums, this one sets the standard for a dark and stormy. Other than that, it falls a bit short. Still an alright bottle but, not my choice of flavours. Also pairs well floated on a pina colada if you want something different.
