Bermuda | Dark | 40% ABV

The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.

Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

It is what it is. The classic black rum. I feel that they may be losing their traditional style to a more corporate polished product but it's still delicious. Dark and stormy with this is a must try for any rum enthusiast. They pretty much invented that drink.

Does well mixed in drinks, but I thought it was kind of boring until I put it in ginger beer. Very good.

Works great with Ginger beer for a Dark & Stormy, but not a sipping rum. Molasses comes to mind.
Changed my mind. Sweeter than I remember now.

It's dark rum, not much else to say. If you want a dark & stormy, this is the supposed only choice. Not my favorite straight but I can't knock it either

This rum is only good for mixing and only for a few specific drinks. Not for sipping or for everyone. Middle of the lower road

Straight to the point: great mixer, dark and stormy was very nice too. Straight I found this to be harsh, with some powerful almost metallic tones, it was better chilled.
I'll keep this for guests.

I tried this rum mixed in a Dark & Stormy. It was just okay, which leads to my scoring this a 5. It wasn't great but it wasn't awful. Not sure I appreciated the flavor profile. It was a bit harsh. One thing that irks me about Gosling's is that they trademarked the name "Dark & Stormy" so that a restaurant cannot list it if they don't use Gosling's rum. I've used other dark rums in the cocktail and came out with much better results (i.e., Kraken Original 94 proof being one example). I wouldn't buy another bottle and I'm not sure I'll ever finish the bottle I have. I just didn't like it that much.

I really like this rum, but admit that I first tried it on a cruise to Bermuda. We've been to Bermuda several times since so this rum, and the drinks I make with it, remind me if those trips. I stand by my assessment though. Great choice for mixing.

I probably like this rum more than most. The color is a bit off putting but the taste is superb. Highly recommend for mixing.
