Gosling's Black Seal rum

Gosling's Black Seal

Bermuda | Dark | 40% ABV

The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.

Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

When you dont want to waste a good rum during a normal weekday and just need a shot to take the edge off a stressfull workday. Or to mix it in a rumcocktail dark&stormy.....This rum gives a mean headache the day after

What to say that hasn’t been said about Goslings? As one of the most famous rums on the market, I suspect avid users of this site who aren’t familiar with this rum are few and far between.

I feel like this is the quintessential workhorse black blended rum. It’s not going to “wow” you and you’re not going to seek it out as a sipper. But it plays well with others and makes some decent mixed drinks on its own.

Initial taste is pretty sweet and aftertaste has a slight bitterness. For me this one has always tasted a bit hotter than it is (it’s only 80 proof), but yet it’s not a “cheap alcohol” burn, either: there’s enough richness to balance it out.

Goslings is a pretty affordable rum for the niche that it covers as a mixer. Plus, you legally cannot make a Dark ‘n Stormy without it. ;)

A bottle of this one is rarely not in my liquor cabinet.

The one and only Rum for Dark and Stormy. Nothing for pure

Has an appealingly rich, dark color but lacks the depth of flavors to rated above a 6/10.

I'm not a big fan of black, spiced rums but this one is very enjoyable. Think the flavour is too strong to drink it straight, but excellent with a bit of coke.

You understand why this is the recommended rum for dark n stormy cocktails. The sweetness will balance out the ginger and spice notes.

Dark mahogany in the glass.
On the nose heavy scents of strong burnt caramel, dark chocolate, wood tones, cloves and other spices.
Very fruity on the palate, orange zest, caramel and some wood.
In the finish caramel with tropical fruits.
The rum for the perfect Dark 'n' Stormy!

Goslings has quite spicy flavor and has hints of anis flavor in it. In my opinion gosling is ok for cocktails but not a sipper. This should be obvious. If I would choose a mixer, I would select kraken over this.

har kun smagt denne rom i en dark n stormy, som de så populært hedder, men der syntes jeg tilgengæld den gled ned uden problemer.
