Goslings is my go to for Dark & Stormies. Over proof is sometimes hard to find but I grab it when I see it.

After discussing rum with a local liquor store employee, I picked this up on his recommendation as being an excellent mixing rum. Being a fan of overproofs but having only ever tried Barcardi's 151, I took his advice and grabbed a bottle.

Boy, he wasn't kidding. Brings sweet, dark goodness to any mixer....coke, ginger ale, and my favorite, tonic water. And at $20 for 750ml in my area it's such a bargain that it's become my daily drinker.

Considering the high alcohol content, I thought this would be a hangover in a bottle, but unlike Plantation OFTD which always seems to give me the worst hangover, this had no such effect the day after.

Exceptional value. Highly recommended for cheap drunks on a budget.

It's definitely intense but it's far from disgusting. It pretty much just tastes like a thinner, more intense version of regular Goslings. It's quite good, especially for a 151 proof rum. I seriously think that if you use this for your Dark 'N Stormy, you will get the same great taste as you would with the regular Goslings except with more kick. A good purchase at about $20.

Jeg syntes den er for stærk til at nyde dom sipper. Giver noget power i en Dark and stormy

I can't get Lemon Hart or Hamilton 151 in my lovely little state of Vermont, so this will have to do. Used exclusively for cocktails. Not offensive, but not good either.

The best 151 proof I've had, despite the slight burn you can still taste the notes of caramel and vanilla. It's rather spicy, and might do well in a Dark 'N Stormy

This has a very dark colour but the nose is mild and balanced. Tasting straight up will burn the tongue and the 151 proof overwhelming. The flavour is sweet with spices and molasses. In a mixed drink this is a good dark rum or an OK sipper after some ice melts.

This comes across big and bold, at 151 proof, but it's surprisingly sweet, with plenty of butterscotch and vanilla. I prefer Lemon Hart 151, but that one is almost impossible to find where I live.

Obviously since this is such high proof, its not going to be a smooth easy drinker but it does make for a great dark & stormy. In fact, you wouldn't even know that you're drinking something that is 75.5% since it goes so well with the other ingredients!

Strongest ever I've tried. Was surprised - it is smooth and tasty with authentic Gosling aroma.

Cheers! Happy New Year!

There’s something about it that wants you drinking more, however the spices are too overwhelming and it needs to be smoother.
