Barcelo Imperial Onyx

I just returned from a trip to La Rommona, and a tour of the Barcelo factory. And discovered his wonderful rum. The extra char in he barrels gives this rum whiskey flavor, with hints of vanilla. Great on the rocks, or with a splash of coke.

Ron dulce excelente para tomarlo en la rocas! Lo recomiendo.

Aromes vanille, amende et un epu se réglisse dans un second temps.
Manque de longueur en bouche.

was curious about that onyx filtration story, but if you add stuff after distillation you can t filter out that artificial sweetness, oh after that sweetness i feel some bitter after taste, really not a good experience, why spanish style rum producers can t play fair and make (with few exceptions) honest (without additives) ron ?

Really good ron for the price, smooth and gentle. I buy a few bottle/year and gives me very good vibes with notes of vanilla, coffe and (quite obviously) brown sugar. A bit smoky.

Quand je l’ai dégusté, j’avais également ouvert un plantation 20e anniversaire et un Kirk and Sweney 18 ans. Le Barcelo Onyx se tient très bien à côté de ces 2 bouteilles qui sont de bonne qualité!

Décidément pas fan des rhums avec un caractère proche du whisky

Honestly, it's sweeter than I like but not bad at all. I can feel some coffee tones.

Way better than the original Imperial. Smoother and with longer after taste. One of my favourites served splashed on ice .

Mahogany colour with amber shades. With a robust, structured body and of great character. Toasted fragrances, with a subtle hint of cherry, coffee and nuts.
