Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
The colour and the smell leads you to expect something rich, sweet, full of chocolate, caramel and vanilla, but the taste is completely diffident. It's smooth, bitter, woody and with a vague distant glimmer of molasses.
Heavy bottle with convex inscription Seychelles and dull label. Modest smell emitting resin. Downplayed taste of coffee and cane, little sour. This rum is dry, robust, caring at the finish. I did not become a fan of Takamaka, but it pleasantly warms.
Sweet. Lot of caramel. Nose better than taste. Very short and simple aftertaste
Nice though to fill the boring evening
Never been to Seychelles.. saw it on the shelf of UAE duty-free.. was sceptical.. but my missus "WOW'ed".. she was so optimistic about this one (though she has no clue about Rum), that she convinced me do get one..
It is GOOD for that price range. A bit harsh to sip, but you can get one of the best "Cuba libre" with this one
A medium rum, sugar added, short aftertaste, sweet...too sweet.
Takamaka Bay Extra Noir hails from the island of Seychelles. The rum is very dark deep brown in color and it is produced using column and pot still rums which have been aged in a combination of bourbon barrels and French oak casks. Hardly any smell to it, very light and somehow sophisticated nondescript approach. Unfortunately easily forgettable rum since the taste test does not reveal anything at all. A lot of missed potential with this rum.
