Moon Import "I Pappagalli" Monymusk 2003 11Y 46%

The nose is funky from the beginning, there are a lot of fermented fruits like apples, prunes, also grasy and creamy notes of whip cream. It's between sour and sweet, therefore I would say it has also a honey smell. Deeper in the glase are also some grains.
If this were a blind tasting, I would say this is clearly a 10y old Port Mourant, I never knew that monymusk can produce such rum.

The start is a little bit thin, bright and sour. It's clearly continental aging, it tingels in the mouth. I get sour and grasy notes with fruits and vanilla. The tannins became very dominant.
In the middle I get more tannins, vanilla and fruits. It's not becoming sweet, like I expected.
The finish is spicy, I get malt, grasy notes, apples and prunes.

Maybe this is the result of continental aging and shows how different a rum can become.
I would rate it with 82 points.

Piacevole ed aromatico, note invecchiate sul finale e una rotonda dolcezza che lo rende una bevuta piacevole

This is a special edition, very strong (45 °), it needs some time in the glass to rest. No sugar at all like all Jamaican rum. Big kick in the mouth on the first sip, it overfills your mouth with a strong mix of spice, tobacco and wood. it would may be a 7, but for my personal taste the long tobacco ending was the best one I ever tried, so I gave it an 8 (if you don't like that kind of rum this might be disappointing for you). Must try if you like tobacco, also try it with some fine dark chocolate.
