On a casual evening out in Nicaragua you drink flor de caña 7yr. Great with some ice on a warm evening or some coca cola in the afternoon.
This rum is a great choice and one of (3) I recommend to all rum drinker types. Decent neat, good with ice and great in a Cuba Libre. Thought about a 9, but at $27 here it is starting to get up there in price.
I've drunk bucket loads of the 7 yr. old Flor de Cana. It is cheap enough to mix (around 22 euro's here), it goes extremely well with cola, yet is good enough to sip. It might be the most versatile rum in the world. It fits racous parties as much as quiet late drinking on your own. I've always loved the warm nutty, buttery caramel and vanilla notes in Flor de Cana, though it's not too sweet and I was relieved to see that testresults showed it has no or very little sugar added. I also had the pleasure of drinking it in its home country Nicaragua where it is a staple for young hipsters as well as old grannies drinking in their rocking chairs. Also it is delightfully cheap over there. When I left Nicaragua I was sweating Flor de Cana Gran Reserva.
Non eccelso come i fratelli piú invecchiati ha dalla sua un incredibile rapporto qualità/prezzo
If compared to other rums this one is premium quality for the money paid. Great to combine in any cocktail or any drink.
This is my standard rum of choice. Oddly enough, I found it mixed best with sweet tea.
Descent rum for the price. Makes a great rum and Coke but not a sipping rum.
Usually buy this in December to mix it up a bit. Nice flavour, can drink it straight up, on rocks, in drinks, probably a bit pricey for eggnog but whatever floats your boat.
Realy good taste. You should try it. Don't suit everyone but I realy like it.
It smells reasonably “boozy”. You still get notes of good oak ageing.
"The finish is overall quite bitter almost like dark chocolate."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I am a big rum fan and like to taste available rums when we have vacationed in Mexico All-inclusives these past years. This is my favorite "top-shelf" of the rums available when there. Agree with the "dark, smoke, leather" comments by others.
