Light brown colour, smooth and rich. Good to mix with juices or sparkling beverages, because it's not a complex rum.

I recently had 3 straight glasses of this on the rocks. For me, it passes as a sipping rum, but not my first choice. It was the best available.

Many years ago when I first tried the Flor De Cana rums from Nicaragua, I was so impressed that I had decided to do side by side taste tests for their amber rums of age 4, 7, and 12 years. This 7-year is definitely worth only a few bucks more than the 4-year, but I could not tell the 7-year and 12-year apart at that time. All I concluded was that the 12-year was a rip off, so I rarely ever bought the 7-year again. I have always been impressed by it, but there was still that nagging thought of being duped by marketing on the extra aging.

Now that I am contributing my own rum reviews to this site, I picked up another 7-year bottle of this amber rum. It is smooth with no excessive sweetness and can be used as a budget sipper, served on the rocks, or as a mixer. Not many rums can boast credit for all three. It is basically inoffensive and well worth the fairly low price. It is not the finest sipper, but for the price, you can't beat it.

Now that I can appreciate this rum since it wound up in my top 30 list, most of this bottle still remains after several months. In the old days, the whole bottle would be gone in only a few days. It wound up in third place among my dark rum budget sippers behind El Dorado 8 and Don Q Anejo respectively. After bidding farewell to my first and final bottle of the over rated Mount Gay XO, this Flor De Cana 7 was a welcome pleasant surprise. Sad but true! This one is also much better than the over priced Flor de Cana 18.

If you're new get this rum. It's a great introduction to sipping and aged rum. Instead of adding water or ice to help you appreciate this, try leaving some in a glass for a few hours or overnight before consuming.

It's my favorite rum, since it was the first rum I drank without any ice or additional drink. It was with this rum I fell in love with drinking rum.

Flor 12, 18 and 25 once you try any of those, the rest is just not good enough, this 7 years burns my throat every time i try it, its cheap but its not worth it, theres better things out there.

Un ron con un aroma delicioso y un sabor con carácter que deja a Flor de Caña muy bien parado.
Demostrando que pueden hacer mejores rones.

Smooth and enjoyable, no need to kill it with cola or lime. A splash and a wedge in a short glass with rocks is a fine drink.

So if you need something that you are willing to share and dont have to spend a whole lot of bread, this is the bottle to get.

I happened upon this when searching for something that I could drink during a family cookout, knowing full well a few of the family lushes would be standing next to me with their cup empty, looking for a taste. They always like the high end stuff I buy.

Well this time I bought FDC 7y thinking I was getting something that would be easy on my pockets (cheap), and that I could drink with my cigar, and not have to share my good stuff. Well it surprised me for sure. Not bad at all, but obviously not top shelf. Still not bad to sip on, and again it was easy on the wallet.
