If compared to other rums this one is premium quality for the money paid. Great to combine in any cocktail or any drink.
Strong alcohol smell, even after breathing 15-20 minutes in the glass. Stout alcohol taste as well, even after adding a touch of water. Might be alright as a mixer, but wouldn't be my first choice as sipper.
This is a well rounded solid rum with plenty of molasses flavor, but not overly sweet. Perfect over ice or with a mixer.
The taste is decent (nothing more) for a rum in that price range. You'de better try an Havana Club or a Brugal. But I got headaches with this one: I finally threw away one third of the bottle. Do wathever you want: I'll keep my distances.
A step up from the 4, but nothing crazy. Completely dependable
when they only serve Captains & Bacardi... this will get you through
I have lots of good memories surrounding this rum ! Recommendable but not excellent (taste wise), but makes a fantastic rum & coke
Este ron de 7 años de añejamiento, es bueno para tomarse con Coca-Cola y para disfrutar un momento con los amigos
A really tasty slow sipper for a small price tag. Not the smoothest.
It's a good mixer. We taste this rum whith cola limette and ice.....fine.
It smells reasonably “boozy”. You still get notes of good oak ageing.
"The finish is overall quite bitter almost like dark chocolate."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I like all of the Flor de Cana products, they are solid and tend to be good values for their prices and over deliver. The Gran Reserve 7 is not my favorite FdC product but it is my favorite value from FdC. It sips well if in cold temps or hot and the price for the quality is hard to match.
Bottle: Tasteful appearance, old school charm.
Color: Light brown.
Bottle Smell: Vanilla comes first, some sweetness, the alcohol, and a hint of oak.
Glass: It doesn't change much except to lose some of the sweetness and show its age characters and become a solid oak aged rum.
Taste: Smooth, good oil levels allow you to taste the rum aged oak the label tells you to expect, typical caramel, vanilla hints and a not unpleasant throat.
This is a solid, good quality rum that is not far below in quality than bottles sold for more. This is my go to rum.
