The Rum Nation Jamaica Rum was stored in bourbon barrels for about 3 years and then again for about 2 years in Oloroso Pedro Ximenez (PX) sherry barrels. The rum was made in Pot Still in the St. Catherine Distillerie (Worthy Park) and bottled with 50% alcohol without any colouring or additives. For a rather young rum it is quite dark and the bottle is nice to look at.

In the nose the Jamaica funk comes through immediately. Light adhesive and a lot of ripe but also fresh fruit. Some menthol and light seasoning swing along. The PX barrel is rather weakly represented here and shows itself from time to time. Exciting. For the nose, Jamaica rums are so interesting. On the palate, the rum is strong with a good body. Raisins and tropical fruits come through. Dried fruit and pastry spices pair with a little vanilla. The whole thing is rounded off with sweet sherry notes that catch the Jamaican well without killing it. The alcohol distributes the aromas well and warms wonderfully. Who knows how to take the 50% should tolerate the sharpnes easily. The finish is fruity with some solvent. What was surprising was how long the rum would remain present in the mouth.

I can't understand the many average reviews. The rum is very good and deserves an 8.5 because it is beautifully complex. The Oloroso finish is well done and the short storage makes the rum fruity and wild. For less than 50 euros really a lot of rum. It is not a rum for every day or in between. He wants to be drunk consciously. Top.

Top.

With 50% of alcohol is little bit stronger, and with aroma of smoke is like single malt whisky. But it is still rum.

I'm starting with this and moving over to TRCL Jamaica WP 2013. Since this bottle is produced in St Catherine, could be a release from Worthy Park too but do correct me if I'm wrong.

Leathery and herbicious and it's very much on the oaky woody side with aroma of coffee beans. Fruity banana with sour cherry compote.

Tannin on the gun and tends to be more funky compare on nosing with spicy and sweet dried fruits. Tobacco leaf and earthy Black coffee.

Tannic on the finishing with fruitiness and acidity of cherry compote. Light funkiness lingering towards the end but mellow. Pretty low on ester but manage to influence a few non Jamaican rum drinkers with it.

Powerful and complex aroma. Taste of raisins and some sherry.

A little harsh and a long and complex aftertaste...notes of ripe fruit and sugar cane that highlights the typical side of jamaïcain rum.

50% alc! Un rom tare! Straight!

Not quite my cup of rum. A little harsh and a bitter aftertaste.

Lækker rom, til eng os pris.
Masser af egetræ og power.
God sherry eftersmag. En rigtig Jamaicaner.
