I really like this rum. One of the best Bacardi I have had

It is not as terrible as I feared when I read "Bacardi". Plus the bottle and the stopper are well-made but without unnecessary flannel. I like that.
The nose is very thin. Some raisin, a little bit of wood. Maybe some spice. A bit of alcoholic bite in the nose, but not too much so.
Taste is sweeter than anticipated, but not unpleasantly so. Taste is dried fruits, mostly raisin, light molasses, honey, a hint of alcohol. Plus there is minimal funk, which helps to keep things from getting too boring.
While the rum is relatively light, it holds its own in grog or mixed with fruit juice.
Reminds me of a rum from Barbados that I tried (sold by the German supermarket chain Rewe).
Too expensive for what is is. But not bad.
Very good taste, I always have preferred to mix rum with coke, what i like of this is than is not such a waste to be mixed but you can drink alone and is fairy good.

Although Bacardi gets a bad press, I find this rum easily drinkable neat or with coke and slice of lime.

Has increased in price, but it is a good entry into something better. Bit of a burn that is tolerable. You get wood, fruit and some vanilla aroma with similar taste. Worth trying, but not a go to option.

Con mucho caracter, pega fuerte, y se diluye en ciruela, albaricoques y nuez moscada. Termina con reminiscencia a avellana, pistacho...
As my first ever bought rum I did not really know what to expect, I thought it was good but not more than that

In the last 5 years in Canada I have noticed the "Bacardi 8" has had its label changed 3 times. The label shown above was on the bottle in Ontario circa 2013. It was a nice oaky rum, the first from Bacardi that I could enjoy straight.
I have found the latest label/version circa 2019 not quite as smooth, but still drinkable. A good inexpensive standard to have on hand for mixing or sipping.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Bacardi is Serious

Anejo rums are starting to gain a greater level of traction in the marketplace, and Bacardi has come to understand this. The 8 years spent in cask has allowed for a beautiful sipping spirit, as well as serious mixer to develop.
It has a thicker mouthfeel than many other rums, and it may be from added sugar, though nothing is cloying at all with the sweetness. I find much of the flavor to be smooth, and teasing. Molasses, toffee, spices, and pleasant, smokey dark chocolate that opens into a touch more sweetness and nuttiness with water. Coconut water is a real winner for mixing, otherwise its quite nice on its own, or over ice. Picked this bottle up for $18.
