I had high hopes for this because of a relatively high price ($72.99, 2016).

But it's a bit dry for my liking, and though very unique, it lacked many of the flavors I'm used to in a good rum. Smells and tastes of a peppery spice, with some fruitiness, and a little whiskey. A bit strong for my liking at 46% abv (I usually only like rums this strong if I rate them an 8 or more).

Not enough "rum" flavor for me. Ok, but not worth the money imho.

Enough burn, sweet, dry balance! If you like Dorado Rums, you are going to understand where this rum is coming from.

Cheers!

So I got this from a small shop in chicago that didn’t know what they had. Super rare its a super super smooth el dorado nose is rough like a 15yr el dorado but taste is super smooth like a 25yr which is surprising because this is an 11yr. Barely any burn

Makes sense most of the aging occurs in Scotland. Drinks very similarly to a mellow scotch. Nice tobacco and pepper on the pallet.

The rum is reminiscent of smoking a good cigar, not in that it tastes like tobacco, but it evokes that dry, dark experience. Fruit on the nose, but the flavor doesn't match for me. Could pass for a whisky or fine bourbon, doesn't seem to have that rum profile.
