Tried a glass of Ron Caribe 5y and actually its not too bad. Alcohol and additional essences are definitely there for your nose and palate, but comparing this to other Mexican based rums, its not bad at all. Yes, there is burn and yes, there is alcohol, but in general terms, not awful at all.

Average quality for an average price. Nothing special.

Depending on where you buy it this can be a good value as I saw this rum priced at $47 and $18 in the same Mexican town! For aroma I found this quite pleasant with tones of light wood, honey, and fruit. It's got a smooth taste and finish but those tastes don't last long. Good as a mixer, but as a sipper it is a little light on taste and it doesn't last long. Depending on the day and mood it could be a 6, but for now I am rating this as a 5. Easily consumable in a bind sums it up quite well.
