Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

This has to be one of the smoothes rums out there. It's not as spicy as lets say diplomático and maybe not as full bodied and complex, but man this rum surpriced me in a good way.
Thinking about caramel, a little vanilla honey, chocolate and hint of coffe in the taste profile it's something else then all the rums ive tried before.
It doesn't have much sugar in it but still taste just as sweet as a good rum should. Only reason i dont give it 10/10 but rather a 9/10 is that i want to save my 10 for something that just blows me away.
Every rum drinker should try this one, even those who are used to sugary sweet rums will like this even with it's low sugar content. I only drink my rums neat with one ice cube btw.
I certify this review is my own opinion and that I do not have a professional affiliation with Diplomatico.
It’s has a lovely golden colour. The nose is deep Carmel and spice but is dominated by ethanol at the end. Has a good flavour but has a short finish. It’s not the smoothest either. I do prefer this one with some coconut water ice. Very good on a hot and humid day. I’m going to grab that ice now and finish this night cap with a fuller and smoother flavour. 6.5 really for me and at £35 mark it’s a lovely addition to the cabinet.
Good bang for the buck, smooth taste, good for all occasions
One of my absolute favourites. The bottle feels a bit luxurious.
Light copper color, sweet dry fruit and vanilla notes on the nose. Taste gives oak and spices, quite dry. Then turns to a nice burn/warmth to chest. Taste doesn't last that long.
Maybe not a keeper, but I'll revisit it once in a while.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."

Better than its younger sibling (aged 7) but not worth nearly 2x the price

I have had the luxury of tasting some excellent rums while on vacation in Mexico and other places in the Caribbean. At our most recent visit to a 5 star resort on the Riviera Maya they served FdC12 at every occasion including in our suite. At other 4/5 star all-inclusives FdC7 was served. The 12 was more mature with a smooth taste which was a pleasure to drink on the rocks. Surprisingly, the taste was too smooth with little bold alcohol flavors found in fine rums or single-malt whiskeys. Admittedly , I am a person with a champagne taste and a beer budget so the practical side of me comes to the fore. In conclusion, I really like this rum but would be happy paying less than half the price for its younger sibling.
