A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.
Tasty, but not quite great
Mi-corsé et plus sec que ce qu'on attendrait, il révèle en bouche des saveurs de clou de girofle, de chocolat noir et de fruits séchés, menant à une finale chaleureuse de longueur moyenne. excellent rapport qualité/prix.

Recommendation: Fine with a chaser & ice, maybe a cola to compliment the slight bitter
Color - a little lighter than my preference but it will do (1)
Volatility - a deep inhale of the glass gives quite a vapor hit, but sipping is not as harsh as expected (3)
Legs - solid legs, no feathering at all (1)
Complexity - starts out a little uneventful, the middle is slightly bitter but bearable, after-taste fades quickly but not immediately (1)
Very nice rum, a bit of alcohol kick at the end but in a nice way. It might lack refinement of his Caribbean cousins but it has definitely character which is worthy to try. My cabinet permanent addition.
Nose: Sharp, quite alcoholic, banana, toffee and oak. Not that promising
Palate: Quite sharp and bit alcoholic, oaky, subtle notes of dark chocolate, coffee and caramel and baking spices.
Bit too subtle for my taste.
Finish: medium, oaky and dry. Quite pleasant.
Overall: This type of rum is not for me personally.
While it isnt sugared up to destruction like el dorado 12, this rum is just way too subtle tastewise, no dominant flavours except the oakiness. This rum just feels quite flat and also slightly alcoholic.
The price was cheap for 12yo rum and presentation and package was maybe the best i have yet seen on a rum bottle so if u get a chance to get the legacy edition of this bottle for cheap, go for it.
40% ABV. Faint alcohol on the nose. Some nail polish. That's about it. Watery. Some tannic astringency. Vanilla. Harsh. Short finish. Improves with time; a bit more vanilla and oak, but still very light.
This took waaaay to long to open up, and once it did, there was hardly anything there. I expected a lot more of this one. At least it's dry.
Golden amber in the glass.
In the nose at the beginning very light, fruity and floral. The longer he breathes the more the scents go into the deep, burned caramel, leather, tobacco, dark wood, lava rock.
On the palate, uncompromisingly honest and without frills. The aromas of unripe fruits, caramel, vanilla and oak wood pleasantly haunt the tongue. Any sweetness is missing.
On the finish, very woody and spicy and yet very kind. The fruity and floral tones also resonate.
A Ron for connoisseurs, but think this kind of Ron could be mature for a few more years in the barrel, looking forward to a tasting of the 25 yo.
Flor de Cana 12 year old is in a different level than its younger siblings 4, 5 and 7 year olds, with very good flavor profile, but unfortunately quite a strong afterburn. 12 year old will make one helluva rum-and-coke drink. Can easily be a neat sipper also.
The palate is drier than expected with medium weight, and some clove, dark chocolate, and dried fruit flavours on a warming, medium-length finish. It is not a great sipping rum, nor does it make a good rum and coke(not enough rum flavour) ,but it is perfect in a rum punch.

"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."
