Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

Ingen dålig rom men ingen för mig men med cola är den god
First rum from this distillery and the alcool is too present, too young. No specific flavor. Short of the finish. Need to test 18y and 25y.
I cannot give this rum more than 6 because it simply is not as good as DR or ED 8YO.
I bought it because of the wonderful flask shaped bottle and low price (20 euro). It had fantastic smell of nougat but thats about when all the great things ceased to flow.
Tastewise the rum offers you nuts, possibly walnuts and off course some nougat. But that is all. Nothing more.
It is too boozy so not much on the soft side with this rum. I think finished the bottle very quickly because I simply did not want to have the bottle on my shelf for too long.
Decent but boring rum which promises more on the nose than it delivers on the palate. For the money it is well worth trying but this is hardly a rebuy.
Smooth and flavorful, better with age. I just did a tasting with my father and this was a hidden gem.
Good en zeker niet slecht maar er zijn betere 12 oude rum'
Definitelly not bad, but for me, this rum is lacking any specific taste which would make me buy it for the second time. You are not going to go wrong with this one, but don't have high expectations.
It’s sugar water aged in oak barrels. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great baseline but I would prefer something with more complexity to it. Faint smell of wood before the alcohol takes over. Taste is similar, the woody flavour lingers and lasts through a bit of a bite from the alcohol. Definitely not as sweet as some other rums around this price point ($40 CAD), but it’s great to compare and taste the difference of sweetness for yourself. As far as drinkability, it is solid but perhaps the 18 will deliver a more exciting punch.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."

Dry, thin rum

6,2:The first nose releases some fairly dry alcoholic aromas. The wood is strongly toasted, releasing notes of well-roasted nuts, chocolate note. A pass of solvent loosens the vanilla from the wood, then reveals a fruity, sweet and tangy character. Caramel and vanilla are accompanied by a very ethereal white floral side. The rum needs time to open.
Time will wash away the alcohol notes and the rum will remain on dry notes of strongly toasted wood and roasted, ground nuts. The dry, vegetal notes evoke walnut blossom, while the woody notes lighten up a little.
6,5:On the palate, the contrast is quite astonishing, as the rum is now very sweet. Toasted wood and roasted nuts are balanced by this sweetness. Walnuts and hazelnuts are tinged with a burnt, almost tarry touch. The rum is then fluid and light, with hints of tobacco, coconut, red fruit.
6:On the finish, the rum dries out and hooks the taste buds, bringing walnut brou de noix to mind once again.
