Tried this one on a Business flight.
Flor de Cana rums are produced on a multi column set up and then aged in ex bourbon casks.
Like all Flor de Cana rums it has a woody profile. The taste is quite old because of this strong oak.
You know such rums already, for example Mount Gay or Barcelo rums.
It was server too cold, thats why I got some more bitter notes in the taste.

There are no surprises, this rum is solid, it doesn't want to shine. I can imagine to drink that when I'm 90 years old. You can imagine an old house with an old, dark, woody furniture from another decade. An old wrinkled man is sitting there with a cigar and a bottle of this rum. He needs no surprices, he saw everything and what he wants is this old woody taste, that reminds him of his own long life.
This is what this rum is, not a fancy sipper, just a solid woody rum.

Smell: strong oak, caramel, some fruits like orange, tobacco, vanilla
Taste: caramel, burned suggar, oak, fruits, spice, bitterness (because it was served too cold).
Finish: spicy, strong woody finish

Letting it breath for a few minutes... and sip it up slowly... very good dry rum. I had it first on Corn Island, Nicaragua... perfect combo..

Have tasted the 7-year,12 yrs and 18yr. Found the 18yr more subtle, well balanced than the 12yr. Maybe because we visited the distillery in Nicaragua and we're at Puro Sabor that I love this rum. There are better rums, no doubt about it. But this one brings a smile on my face. It is well balanced, smooth and not sweet as rums can be.

Dry with a few flavors. Ended up being a great mixer. Can't say I'd buy again.

Nice bottle, but for an aged rum I was expecting more depth.

I've always love Flor De Cana, and am finding it increasingly difficult to acquire this in my location. I'll be back in Mexico this year and plan on getting my hands on the 25. I prefer to drink it straight up.

Best qpr I'm for the fdc offerings. Smooth, not overly sweet. Very enjoyable.

We purchased this in the Cancun duty free last year. I enjoy sipping aged rums for their complexity and am a fan of aged "Anejos" (redundant I know). Therefore, I really like the Flor de Cana brand but think, while the 18-year old de Cana is more complex, the 7-year is a better value. This year, I plan on bring back more 7-year and will look for the 12-year as well.

Jemný rum. Není sladky. Krasne zahřeje. Ale není to úplně ono. Něco tomu chybí.
