Flor de Caña 18-Year Centenario Gold Rum is produced in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. The rum is crafted using column stills and is then aged for 18 years.
The 18-year variety is the oldest rum produced by Flor de Caña, a brand owned by Grupo Pellas and founded in 1890 Francisco Alfredo Pellas. A 5th generatino Pellas family member still runs the company today.
That version 18 is complex but is still accessible. Caramel notes, butterscotch , honey and toast. The oak is present but does not take over the pastry notes and orange zest. Very round and smooth with hints of vanilla on the end with the oak that still does not leave us. Very nice job
A lovely sipping rum... Not the best for flavour but decent to drink on ice
Well after spending $50 I would expect to get something that is at a +7, this one across the board was tough to drink at first but has one some favor with me as i have consumed more of it. The alcohol and esters overwhelmed the flavors at first but let her mellow and it does just that. Over it .....is 18years old and i do not believe it has been adulterated so truth be known it is a real rum as it most likely should taste. Revisit just had some of this rum it oxidized in the bottle absolute crap and I treat my rum with Tinder gloves crap crap crap just go to the local Cesspool for some more of this stuff
Medium sterk krydret smak.
Full-flavored fruity with a round body. Goes excellent together with orange chocolocate, for example the Swedish "Marabou Apelsincrisp". A very good rum for first timers.
A tad more sweet than the twelve year, but not overly so. I like this rum quite a bit!
In the glass you find a medium golden amber rum with light thin legs that quickly descends after you swirl it. The nose is lightly sweet with noticeable oaky zest. The palate is very smooth and dominated by oak. The dominans of wooden flavour almost mascarades the frail melasse sweetness, and is perhaps just a bit overbearing. It's impressively smooth though and there is no doubt it's a quality product. It just doesn't fit my profile very well.
This is a Rum that's very smooth and not extremely sweet. I love smoother spirits and this rum seems to get more smooth with each sip. The slight spiciness gives it a great finish.
To start, leave bottle open for a bit to let breathe. Has a nice dry caramely aroma. Very smooth, dry, little burn. Flavor is nice, dry, caramel, but not sweet. Great for sipping, on rocks it flows effortlessly down the throat. Almost too smooth, when mixing w ginger beer or coke hides in background. Use as sipper.
Nice on the nose. Vanilla, butterscotch. Not a lot on flavor. Very dry.
There is little on the nose and the taste is quite dry with an alcoholic kick. Certainly lots of oak. It's very full-bodied and, although it is initially dry on the tongue, it has a spicey and slightly sweet after-taste. All this certainly makes it well balanced, but for dry rums with a bit of depth, I prefer La Hechicera - which is also about £10 a bottle cheaper.
Yeah it's sweet but I kinda like em that way. Very tasty and smooth.
Bit to dry for me. Expected more of the 18 years of riping.
Nice sipping rum but there are much better for the price.
This is pretty much my favorite rum when I want to spend some money. There’s no added sugar so it’s not syrupy. The balance of flavor and aroma are perfectly balanced. I think this is a good age for any rum. I find once they get older they all start tasting like a sugary sweet mess.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this rum. I don't have anything wonderful to say about it either. If you've had any of the younger Flor de Cana's, imagine somethings that just feels older and overall better, and that is exactly what you get. This rum bothers me a little though, because it is really good, but it doesn't actually do anything. It's great and boring. I had it just three days ago, and all I can remember is that I really liked it; but no specifics of any kind...
I was walking through the E terminal of the Atlanta airport and they were offering samples.
This is a ice smooth dipping rum
This is a lovely rum, distinguished by its sweet molasses nose. Don't let that fool you, though. The taste is dry and buttery.
Excellent quality Nicaraguan. Toffee, caramel and red fruits, good sweetness without added sweeteners.
