This is an excellent rum with a nose of brown sugar and a taste of vanilla and nuts.
My thoughtful tattoo client gave me this as a tip! I let him try Diplimatico RE and he asked at Total Wine for something similar and the clerk suggested this, he was correct! I nice sipper on the sweet side but not so much as Diplomatico, with a bit more complexity. I taste caramel, licorice, oak, fruit, vanilla...my top sipper is El Dorado 12 and Diplomatico with this right up there.
On first sniff it is like a Cognac and you can very much tell it was finished aging in a Cognac cask. A very lovely flavor of caramel with a hint of baking spice and citrus. A nice add to any collection.
This dark amber rum is a very pleasant surprise; when i tasted it, i could smell cinnamon, fruit, cocoa and a little sweetness; its flavor is very good and balanced, with notes of cocoa and spices.
Nice rum, had a good time sipping it at the lake cabin.
Guatemalan Rum with a rich copper/bronze colour in the glass, very appealing. Thick , tasty. The nose above the glass bring oak spice, dark tobacco, and rich baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and vanilla). There are hints of licorice and raisins in the air as well as chocolate.
As the glass breathes, some fruity oranges. The empty glass is full the lingering smells of rich oak and baking spices, dark bittersweet chocolate and broken walnuts.
The rum features a light caramel sweetness which runs through the sipping experience. The mouthfeel is creamy with fine oak spice unraveling from the sweetness and heating my palate. Orange marmalade, caramel toffee, oak and baking spices (vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg) are all melded together into a very nice rum which is easy to sip and tasty.
El Pasador de Oro XO is an excellent sipping rum.
Very subtle citrus tones on the nose. Somewhere between oranges and apricots. Very sweet tongue, carries a subtle spice, but boldly displays tones of caramel and vanilla. Powerful sweetness masks a risidually bitter undertone. Compliments itself wonderfully.
Dollar for dollar one of the best rums around. Sip this beauty.
:-)
Colour light.
Smell ok.
Taste ok.
Aftertaste good.
;-)
For years I have been a fan of another rum until I was given a bottle of this as a birthday gift. I savor this neat. Smooth, sweet no alcohol burn. I finished it and went and bought another. At around $40US you can't beat the value. It is now a mainstay of my shelf.
Very tasty sipping rum, smooth, sweet with a nice finish.
El Pasador de Oro Rum sells for $69 CAD in my area (SAQ). While I knew practically nothing about this Rum at the time of purchase, the presentation and packaging were too attractive to pass up. This mahogany coloured Rum is extremely smooth and leaves no burn whatsoever. My only criticism would be the sweetness level of the rum which at 16 gsl is much sweeter than my own preference. Nevertheless this is a great Rum, specially if you tend to like sweeter Rums.
Really good final, spicy and a lot of complexity. The alcool is there but hide by the smoothness and the spicy touch at the end. Better if u let it breathe a bit. Honey and a little bit of cinnamon. Not to sweet, I love it.
Great looking bottle, good and tasty Rum... sin duda lo volvería a compra.
This rum is a blent of XO (6 years minimum) from three distilleries of Guatemala, with the particularity of having a finish in Cognac barrels in France. The result is good even if it lacks strengh. It is a sweet rum in the mouth, without being too sweet, and it goes down easily in the throat. The aftertaste is also interesting on the time. For less than 50 euros it's way better than the other rums that are in the same category (Guatemala: we think Zacapa 15 and 23).
