I admit to being partially biased to sweet Rums, and this is one. But only just. Maybe butterscotch or carmel. Yes, oak but so mellow. And so smooth, aged in French cognac casks. Warm finish that maybe does not last quite long enough. Love the thick bottomed bottle, hate the lable. This Rum tied for me with another of my favorites, Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. Not that they are the same but both are my go-to for a quiet sip, ice or not, both are my best affordables so far.

My five boys & I tried both Pasador XO and the Gran Reserva simultaneously. The Gran Reserva won the night but Gran Reserva at $45 vs. XO at $37 allows for a good “value” argument to be made in favor of XO. Both Guatemalan rums are “Buys” but the price conscious will have an excellent tasting evening at the lower price point.

Shared this bottle with my friend and it didn’t make it through the night. Easy drinker on ice.

It's standard sweet side premium rum, nice for dessert and for dipping with sine ice. Similar to Zacappa
