What a Great Rum. Smells like the 1824, but taste like Honey on your Tongue!

it is trying to be like classic rum, you can feel the oak sly, with karmel a bit, toffee, vanilla, cherry, long alcohol finish, also you will be hited by spice, paper or tabaco, or its just heavy oak :) do not recommend for beginners, even not worth to try for that price

Darker color and distinguishable presence. Smooth all the time yet specific one. Caramel flavour in in the body. Gets smoother in the aftertaste.

N- Initial nutmeg that leads you into tropical fruit farm filled with ripe fruits, soothing and comfort aroma of maple, liquorice, banana and passionfruit rising from the glass. Thought a tad of nasty brown sugar in the middle but still pleasant. Peach-ed marsala tea. (86/20)

P- Spices, toasty with coat of bitter sweet toffee. Floral and fruit nuances linger with canned fruits, apricot and peach of that sorts. Wee thin on body, a bit stingy as this supposed their very top range. (86/20)

F- Short-medium, remain waxy, buttery with mouthwatering spicy oak. Short of width, drowned with dilution. Could be better (85/19)

Body/Balance- 85/19

Beautiful light mahogany in the glass.
Caramel dominates the nose, fruits and wood tones accompany the whole thing.
Very soft and elegant on the palate, like a creamy candy with a caramel core, very sweet.
The finish beautifully long and slowly fading away.
A well-made rum to end a good day. For lovers of slightly sweet rum.

I had this side by side with the Angostura 1824, as they are both priced similarly (this costs just a little more).

This has more oak than the 1824, and is slightly dryer as a result, but it is still sweet.

Smells and tastes of molasses, oak, honey, and spice. Between this and the 1824, I'll give the ever so slight edge to the 1824, as I like sweeter less oaked rums.

But this is another fine rum by Angostura!

Beautiful mahogany color with almond pastry notes, butterscotch, coffee and caramel sometimes going to chocolate and dried fruit. On the palate are dried fruits such as grapes with woody notes. The final is long and dry. I never identified the caroni side explained by Martin Jeppesen on his comment. The tasting environment was noisy and polluted by food odors. Could be great to taste it again... ;-)

Sååå len och mjuk i smaken. Söt, vilket jag gillar. Jag blev överförtjust i den.

Really a solidly put together Rum, but there’s just a little aggressiveness to it that although interesting, was a bit off putting.

EN: I liked all the branches I tried from Angostura, although these Trinidad Tobago rums seem to be stranger then others

my favorite is and remains 1824, which blew me away with its intense taste of cocoa, but 1787 in no way disappoints, in fact I would say it is much more complex, the flavors are much better layered, in fact I think it is the rum that stands out better in this aspect, they managed that, although they combine many aromas, you can distinguish them quite clearly if you concentrate on taking them in turn) and here we have cocoa but also vanilla, leather, coffee, wood, barrel, molasses, black fruits sweetness, cinnamon and towards the end a chewy caramel with a fairly long aftertaste of tobacco.

an explosion of very correctly detectable aromas (not a very common trait) in which the alcohol, which is also quite present, shows itself to be the binder of all the aromas, like a strong branch of a fruit tree full of fruit.

Fairly smooth, but the flavor just isn’t my favorite. Slightly on the dry side.
