Purchased a sample from Master of Malt for Β£6.61 tasting in comparison with the tawny port and oloroso sherry finish.

This one is much richer, a little less sweet fantastic flavour can taste the cognac coming through with a touch of smoky oak.

Caramel, chocolate and vanilla in aroma; cognac barrel, sweet caramel and cocoa in the body; tail almost not noticable

The firwt panama rum i have ever tasted and i am pleasently surprised. Intense taste with interesting aromas i think origin from the cognac casks.

Usually I give maximum 8, for a good product, but this deserves a 9. You can taste the cask, it is not only written on the bottle, like the other ones.

A special XV Finish Collection range from Panama, aged for 15 years in French cognac casks. The XV Tawny Port Cask and XV Sherry Oloroso Cask are also part of this edition. The blend of rums was bottled at 40% ABV strength.

Bottle: Classic Abuelo delivered in a gift box.
Colour: Dark Amber.

Nose: A very nice woody cognac that is quite intense and I like that. The aroma has cocoa, chocolate covered cherries, plum jam, raisins, wooden wine barrel and smoke.
Mouth: Slightly sweet, but surprisingly a little watery. This is more of a drier rum, but quite smooth. Pleasantly warm, but not burning. The taste, like the aroma, has cocoa, dark chocolate covered cherries, coconut bar, dry wine and oak.
Finish: Medium-long.

Finish: This is a very good rum, but it lacks a bit more interesting flavours for me. The selling price is adequate for the quality.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 12/17/21. Medium dark brown color. Thick and chewy. Aroma of pineapples and tamarind. Big candy sweetness. Notes of chocolate. Caramel. Lovely biting finish.

As much as we love Abuelo rum, the version with a cognac barrel was incomprehensible. Sharp, I refused of further testing, so the review is my husband's opinion: "an unbalanced mixture of cognac and rum, there is no balance, roundness, completeness, what you expect from such exposure and noble drinks."

Smooth and balanced. Nice and complex. The aging on casks that previously contained Napoleon Cognac is evident in the taste. I love it!

This is a sweet dry rum. Flavor notes of pineapple, definite floral notes. I am glad I tried it.
