Abuelo XV Tawny Port Cask Finish

Tasted at Laka Lono on 12/17/21. Now I really like this. Pours dark brown. Big aroma of plums, wine, fruit. Berries. Wow! This is good. Very wine-like. Lots of bitterness to the finish. Raisins, tobacco. Mellow ending.

Beautiful deep dark color. Give it a firm swirl a Glencairn glass and you can catch traces of the deep tawny port maroon chasing the caramel around the bowl.
Well rounded, warm sweet dusty vanilla on the nose. At some point it might have passed by an oak barrel.
Full of rum character, the port seeps through the middle and dies out as caramel sweetness dances around the edges of the tongue.

As a South American who grew up driving by the sugar cane plantations, rum has always been close to my heart.

This expression of Panamá's Abuelo is absolutely refined and smooth, punching above its weight when compared to other sublime and more expensive drams.

It's sweet and polished, thick on that first sip and not at all sharp on the palate. Notes of port and sticky date pudding. Superb!

Very similar to Abuelo Two Oaks and port wine barrels, they complemented it well, opened it, balanced the taste, made it softer and a sweeter. Very good finish for Two Oaks.

Flavor: oh wow. This could be an ice cream sundae topping. How did they cram a toffee dark chocolate candy bar into a bottle? With a tiny bit of cherry... This is amazing.

This is just so mouth filling, well integrated sweetness fantastic flavour and tawny influence. This is for sure worth a try, can only fully recommed it. Better than a lot (most) more expensive rums. Try it - you won't be dissapointed.

One of the first exclusively fruity noses I've come across, full of banana and almond. Impossibly smooth on the tongue. Subtle nouget tones accent the mild port flavours that come through. A delightful little flare gives the smallest bite on the upper tier of the aftertaste, giving emphasis to the banana flavour which carries on long after consumption. This is an absolute masterpiece.

Without any doubts, one of the bests I have ever tried. Perfect blending of Abuelo rum and Porto barrels. (Aged partially in Porto barrels, at the end of the ageing process). Dark color, great taste and aroma, one can really feel the taste of aged Porto wine in it. Not cheap, but definitely worth the price.

Hat all die hier schon beschriebenen Vorzüge, für mich ist das bemerkenswerte an diesem Rum der für mich fruchtige Nachhall. Wärmstens zu empfehlen!!!
