Even though a "10 year", liked it better than many "15's" and even "21's" at this price point...
Very sippable (my standard) and worth having in your rum bar....
Jemná příjemná chuť, pije se dobře. Lepší než z Maria Galante
The light colour of this rum somewhat belies a substantial nose and even weighter mouthfeel. On the nose is toffee, raisin and a bit of orange. Really nice. The palate has a beautiful, full mouthfeel, with flavours of taffy apple, butterscotch and a touch of peppered heat on the finish. This is a really lovely rum! Worth searching for.
A pleasant surprise for the $30 I paid in St. Kitts (seems like more than double that elsewhere). N: Oak and some honey, almost scotch-like. T/F: big early spice and then an almost candied sweeter fade. Solid aged rum without any of the alcohol notes or hollowness that can drag a score down.
at 40% abv, on the nose no burn (and this is good), some toffee, vanilla,
in the mouth same plus some melassa, but is very smooth, so smooth that i suspect its
for additives (less than 15 grams in the 5 year EH but still to much for my taste),
why i saying so ? because sweetened alcohol it s easier to drink ...
you lose the burn on the nose and drink it easier (smooth) just in the mouth it s
sugary sweet, various aromas lost, the rum become dull, mono dimensional ...
done an experiment in my bar some years ago, gave a shot of Drambuie
(whisky honey liquor, 40% ABV) to 3 girls (in their twenties),
with an ice cube, they tried it for the 1st time and saying wow it s veeery good !
after this i offered them a glass of rum (also 40% ABV), and they said to me: no, no,
this is too strong for us ...
it s expensive probably because they have to buy production materials from Guyana
and Dominican Republic while other brands are self producing them ...
but i paid this bottle 85 euro, it s not the right price for the quality, very disappointed !

today, after 7 days i tried it again alone, last time was drinking it along with EH 5, and i
admit a mistake, this rum is really dry, no sugar added, you feel even some little bitternes in the mouth, from 5 i ll raise the rating to 7, contrary to the EH 5 this one is drinkable,
but again i have to say that 85 euro can bring me better rum and even solid single malts
older than 10 years
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
