So yet another rum from plantation! I just love their rums. But this one the Gran Anejo Guatemala & Belize just didn't do it for me. Nice bottle in a beautiful box though. For the nose it's very oaky and smokey, like a bourbon whiskey. The taste is oaky and rich of roasted spices. Didn't think it was a smooth rum, rather the opposite. More a whiskey then a rum. Mayby it would have been better to age it longer. Let it breathe! But still must say that it's so cool that the taste is so different from rum to rum. That makes the chase after the perfect rum so much funnier.
This is a very enjoyable sipping rum. The flavour has complexity, though I must agree with other reviewers: the bourbon casks haven't left much elbow room for the subtler, tropical rum flavours. In fact, I'm planning to get some of my Jack Daniels-drinking friends to taste this stuff blind, tell them it's Tennessee whiskey, and see whether they smell a rat. Having said that, the bottle doesn't seem to be lasting all that long, which always seems to happen with Plantation rums in my cabinet...
This is the new version of the Plantation Gran Anejo Guatemala available since 2015. Matured in casks for 3 years in Guatemala, and finished in ex-cognac caks in France. Vanilla is very present with almond, marzipan and honey. Well balanced with cocoa, woody vanilla notes. Elegant finish.
Good for "Everyday Rum".
It's a very typical rum and reasonable price.
No alcohol burn.
It is a not special rum, but it has no weakness for me.
Weich, fruchtig mit moderater Süße. Warm und leicht alkoholisch auf der Zunge. Rund im Abgang.
Zu wenig definiert, etwas scharf. OK, aber kein Highlight.
good, xaymaca is better if I compare them, but this one still good.
I like to sip this one while enjoying Family evenings at home. Good value for the money. It's half the price of the 20th anniversity xo, but that doesn't go for the taste. I would buy this one again.
Pas mauvais du tout avec des notes d'amandes. Pas mal équilibré
Found a bottle with only 1.5 ounces remaining; added 1/4 ounce of water, no ice and surprise, surprise, it was delicious; one of the most enjoyable rums I've tasted. This brand "Plantation" is going to be very confusing as they produce rum from so many Islands in the Caribbean.
Pár korun navíc oproti prvním modelům a vypadá to úplne jinak.
I like this one quite a bit. Typical Plantation taste and affordable. Sweet, but not too sweet. Ik think this would be enjoyable for most people. Also if you are not a rum drinker.
Caramel, sweet with a finish loaded with spices. Nutmeg, cloves, anise. Not my cup of tea because of the spices.
Rhum fruité avec du corps. Belle structure. Mériterait un peu plus de rondeur.
Cладкий, но до десертного не дотягивающий, пряный, с мягким терпким дубом, в аромате слабоват, но вкус компенсирует. 8/10
Sweet, but not sweet to the dessert, spicy, with a soft tart oak, weak in flavor, but the taste compensates.
J'en garde un bon souvenir, toujours un cran en dessous d'un Zafra 21 ou du Plantation 20th Anniversary, mais on est dans une gamme de prix beaucoup plus modeste.
This rum was not expensive at around £35, which I think is pretty good value for money.
The aroma and initial taste is cognac and oak, which makes sense given the way it is made.
It is pretty smooth, with no more alcohol burn than many rums with a larger pricetag.
There are lovely light caramel notes which segue nicely into a very subtle organic, almost earthy finish, but it doesn't last long.
There is sweetness to this rum ... not as much as Diplomatico (is anything? LOL!) but more than an aged Appleton's. For me, the sweetness is perfect for something you can drink a few glasses of.
I think I will be looking to get some more of the Plantaion label.
Got this as christmas gift. Really loved the taste. And also appreciates that there are no harsh burning in the throat after drinking it. Truly great rum!
Good and enjoyable rum. Smooth in it's own way. The one you open on that not so special day.
Beautiful aroma, very smooth taste, not burning. Long aftertaste with vanilla tones.
Enjoyable partner for long evenings.
Stronger from the start with nice aroma, candied fruit touch, cognac oak barrel trace, vanilla bit, ok.
Honestly, I expected more from this. There just wasn’t a lot going on, it was kind of flat. I know it’s a blend maybe that’s why, but it tastes young for something with Big Age written on it in such big letters.
