Beautiful aroma, very smooth taste, not burning. Long aftertaste with vanilla tones.
Enjoyable partner for long evenings.

If you can get past Plantation’s business model of blending rums from other places and possibly adding sugar or other flavors, they do make a very enjoyable product!

I adore their XO, and this is right up there with it as far as flavors and drinkability is concerned. I get molasses, honey, golden raisins and a hint of chocolate, it’s smooth as would be expected at only 42%.

It has a gentle burn and is the kind of rum I drink neat. It might be excellent in a cocktail, but you’d lose much of the flavor notes I’d think.

Time for another glass!

Pleasant aroma. Slightly sweet, smooth, mild. A bit bitter in the finish.

Opened the bottle 15-20 min before tasting

Light intense gold-copper yellow with a big water edge
Medium intense, but very complex in the nose. Aroma's of vanilla, baking dough, bourbon, orange peel, sherry oloroso and some brown sugar.

A soft start on the palate, immediately followed by a burning hint of the alcohol.
Alcohol softens up after a while and the rum became more accessible.
Aroma's of brown sugar, smoke, vanilla, slight banana hint and bourbon.
Long finish.

The aging in bourbon casks is noticeable in it's flavours, but is not too dominant.
This is a very good and nicely balanced rum.
score: 84/100

Very sweet with taste of nuts and fruits. Pleasant but a bit too simple, it feels like there's lots of potential in this one that never really comes out

So yet another rum from plantation! I just love their rums. But this one the Gran Anejo Guatemala & Belize just didn't do it for me. Nice bottle in a beautiful box though. For the nose it's very oaky and smokey, like a bourbon whiskey. The taste is oaky and rich of roasted spices. Didn't think it was a smooth rum, rather the opposite. More a whiskey then a rum. Mayby it would have been better to age it longer. Let it breathe! But still must say that it's so cool that the taste is so different from rum to rum. That makes the chase after the perfect rum so much funnier.

As always let it breathe before. Could feels a little bit oaky in the beginning but aftera while that disappears. Godd price and therfore a lot for your money.

Nose: Lovely gentle. Leather and fruits, white grapes.

Palate: Fruity but also some hint of smoke, complex, full-bodied and balanced. Echoes a long time. Passion fruit and mango. Not sharp 👍

Part of a gift box set I received and was thrilled to explore this offering. Other than a couple of items, Plantation is difficult to find consistently with the remainder of their lineup so I have been resistant to investing time into many of their bottles. This was one of them. However I'm so glad to have come across it. A bit rough around the edges but not offensive in the least and very enjoyable as a decent sipper. Now I'm willing to travel further to find this bottle and others to expand on the Plantation experience.
