This rum is something unique, it's not a bad rum, however in my opinion is something light to be a 21 year old rum, besides the woody notes predominate before the others, on the other hand it has a very fine touch of sweetness. It's a rum difficult to understand, but as you try more times in a row, you fall in love.

After a trip to Jamaica and sampling many of the funky rums to be found in that part of the world, the Appleton 21 remains an all time favourite.
It is smooth, sweet and flavoursome, but not overpowering. It leaves you wanting more which often results in over- indulgence.

So let’s buy another.
Cheers

It's not a rum that really surprises you, but it's a very good clean rum.
Not as funk as some Jamaican rums, but that's to be expected with Appleton.
However it is very good at what it does offer you. The bourbon cask is quite dominant, so do keep that in mind if you consider buying this one.

This is a party in a glass! I popped the cork and a cloud of raisins and molasses came from the bottle. Poured in a snifter at first sip the nose is incredible with raisins and fresh cinnamon rolls. The mouth feel is a tad oily in a good way. Smooth with a little burn on the finish. The essence of molasses lingers in your mouth long after the last sip. Of the 7 or so rums I've tried beyond the college party rums this is my absolute favorite.

Received this as a gift, by far one of my favorite gifts ever. Absolutely special. Tastes delicious, good any way.

One of my top rums that are in my price range and commonly available.
It's matured, refined and complex. Still I would have thought more wood in it. I still got half bottle and need to refresh my notes.

This is darn good stuff, like real good. Smooth smooth smooth. It's not that complex do to the fact it's so well blend together for their demise. I mean it's really good don't get me wrong, worth the price ? NO NO NO. How it works it enters smooth exits dry, transitions from semi sweet to dry during the enter exit process. Distinct Appleton taste just smoother. Honestly though very very pricey for what it is, by no means is it bad but you can get rums half the price that are just as good. Appleton has a distinct flavor which is moderately simple once blent together, oak, molasses, toffee, some allspice and vanilla, the cane they use has a very distinct flavor a dry but sweet sugar and that is essentially Appleton. Going from their lowest to their higher it's about all the same, the higher grade ones just hone in on their distinct flavor better with much reduced harshness. It's a very pleasant flavor none the less and this one has no alcohol smell in it so you can smell all the aromas for as long as you please.

Picked this up 20% off at duty free in Montego Bay after drinking Appleton signature blend all week. Very pleasantly surprised as the signature blend wasn't too outstanding.
Nothing too pronounced on the nose, a little harsh maybe
Quite burny on the initial taste bit mellowed to cotton candy, brown sugar, orange and raisin notes after a few sips. I like it a lot better than the last few bottles I've aquired for sure

There is a delicious oak taste with a bit of Smokey flavor. It’s just the right amount of sweetness and dry. Definitely a wonderful sipping rum. I enjoy the 12, but the 21 is on another level. I have had a few different rums in this price range and this one is worth it. The bottle, real cork, seal, and certification make this a great addition to my rum collection.
