Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.
Appleton Estate 21-year rum is produced in Jamaica on one of the country’s oldest and most renowned sugar estates. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a signed aging certificate by master blender Joy Spence.

A little pricey for an '8' overall rating. However, it is high quality and mixes well. In addition, you will be pleased with the aroma and smooth taste.
This is an enormous upgrade over the 12 year (that I rated a 5). It still has a relatively weak nose given its age - a certain hollowness alongside a crisp caramel note - but the finish is fantastic, with the full 21 years coming through in the oaky spice and a lingering and complex (for rum) fade.
Mooie balans maar iets te scherp voor mij. Is natuurlijk een kwestie van smaak.
Nose - dry soft woody nose with a hint of sweetness
Taste - a chocolate sweetness that switches to dry barrel tannins, a hint of tropical citrus
Aftertaste - marzipan and mint
Très bon rhum
Assez sec et puissant. Arômes très complexes. Assez typique des rhums jamaiquain.
Lots to enjoy here - oak and toffee primarly - plus some mild scent of vanilla. Very smooth and dry. Not sure it's worth the price, however. Better-tasting rums abound at half the cost.
Grandissimo rum, non molto aggressivo per essere un jamaicano, ma probabilmente i 21 anni in botte lo hanno addomesticato. Perfetto per meditare...
A very elegant and smooth rum. Mostly dry but feels a bit sweeter than it actually is.
Vanilla, oak, floral aromas, orange peel, coffee.
A long lasting dry finish.
I had a 2 ounce pour of this rum at Bahama Breeze - if you ever go, their price of $11 is just above cost (this is in NC).
Honestly I found the wood in this to be a little strong, and I actually prefer the 12 yr which is better balanced. But this is definitely one you want to try if you have the opportunity. The empty glass smelled so wonderful that I wouldn't let our waitress take it away until we were done with dinner.
Nice brown sugar and toffee notes with a nice creamy nuttiness underneath.
"Tropical notes of sweet fruits a little orange zest and some nice notes of tropical fruit. It burns slightly on the finish which is very long and satisfying. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
