Ahh, Appleton 21......the first time I spent over $100 on a bottle of rum. This was and always will be stocked on my shelf. Always has the distinctive orange peel flavor, but just delicious! I shared a bottle with the locals in Jamaica and they were overly appreciative!

Cocoa and coconut in nose and flavor, very well matured. ABV is 43%, this is meant for serious drinkers.

N- With oak aged molasses at heart, also bring along the delicious ripe banana, creamy exotic fruit salad, almond flakes and passion fruit juice. Pickled papaya with tinge of sourness. Not as interesting and agile as the 12YO, with more sappy oak impart into this blends. (86/20)

P- Attack of astringent sourish fruit smokes, then the toffee and leather lingers with oxidized sherry that finely trimmed most of the sticky sweetness, fruit-ed caramel with toasted nuance for depth. (87/21)

F- Medium, chewy tannin, albeit oak driven but may not be a bad thing, but lost bit of stamina at the end, feel a bit edgy. (86/20)

Body/Balance- 86/20

Well it is smooth and a bit sweet. By far the best appleton Ive had yet. This is simply a case of you get what you pay for.

A little pricey for an '8' overall rating. However, it is high quality and mixes well. In addition, you will be pleased with the aroma and smooth taste.

Mooie balans maar iets te scherp voor mij. Is natuurlijk een kwestie van smaak.

Nose - dry soft woody nose with a hint of sweetness
Taste - a chocolate sweetness that switches to dry barrel tannins, a hint of tropical citrus
Aftertaste - marzipan and mint
