This is one of the first rums I started paying attention to. I had a Cuba Libre in a restaurant and was told it was made from this. After tasting from the bottle, I knew it was not the rum used in that drink. This is much heavier and sweeter with the burnt sugar taste. It has always been my wife's favorite. I have come along way over the last five years since trying to find that particular rum that was in that very tasty Cuba Libre. I'm glad I started this journey. This is my first review of many in the coming days/weeks/months/years.

Sweet molasses with that el dorado oak flavour. This impressive showing has earned a place on my bottom shelf for life. Easily drinkable and exceptionally inexpensive. Im beginning to wonder why I bought bacardi for years as a mixer, or why I bought the more expensive el dorado vintages. Excellent value!

Этот ром точно на правильном пути, но очень молод. Хотя отчетливо проявляются медовые нотки, но достаточно спиртуозен.. Что либо различить достаточно трудно, как в прочем и пить его вчистую.

Arrgh, you heard correct! I says this rum be far too young to enjoy! She smells sweet and all, with fine bits of caramel, but that be where the fascination ends. She be tarted up with color that not be natural and a bizarre flavor that reeks of burned raisins, chocolate, and dead fish at low tide. Aye, there be a bit of burn, and that be fine for ANY alcohol, but not this one, maties! Not for sippin', not for anythin' but cleanin' sword wounds. There be so many rums from El Dorado that be truly amazing. What son of biscuit eater made the call to put THIS in a bottle?

Bought 4 different rums on way home and this one was suggested to make change for a mixing rum. Well...no great. Very much like bacardi gold. Will not purchase again.

Found a single remaining bottle of this in a strip mall liquor store for less than $20. A great everyday mixing rum, but not easily found.

Its a light (probably mostly column-still) rum. Definitely has that demerara style of darker, smokey molasses and brown sugar (evaporated caramel when left in the glass). Not as sweet as many dark rums (which I really like). Its well balanced, and really not bad for the $14 I paid. Can be surprisingly hard to find for such a cheap one...

Taste really good for the price paid. Notes of molasses and brown sugar. Low price and largely available.
