El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Nice, but not great. I was expecting so much more. The plantation 20 year is still my favorite.
Always a favourite and the run against which I judge all others. Only the fact I'm writing this years later, having tasted many more and being blown away by the 12 makes it an 8.
A sweet and easy rum (hardly alcohol burn). Main taste of oak. Also some lemon, dried fuit, caramel. Overall a thick and sticky taste.
Tres bon. Plus travaillΓ© que son petit frere. J aime beaucoup
Here we have a very nice and easy going rum. On the sweet side, but still nicely balanced.
The 15 was a great bottle that everyone seemed to like. It is good on the rocks, straight up and even mixing.
I would mix the 12 first and the 21 is only for sipping (straight or on Ice). I tried mixing the 21 for the hell of it and did not like it that way? That was a first.
We started a big Rum tasting on new years of 2016 and still going strong. 3 to 5 bottle get togethers every 4 to 6 weeks. About to wind it down, it has been a load of fun and discovery. Of course the grand tasting will be this fall with all the open bottles.
Hard to go wrong with this bottle. Enjoy!
Taste of fruits, vanilla, spices, tobacco, wood and later with a long and drier finish. A stronger taste of alcohol.
I m not a big fan of the bottle... El dorado design in general is not very appealing... Anyway we care about the taste right ?
The nose is seeet, a lot of alcohol, but that s to be expected with a "young Rum".
In mouth, well not very spectacular, quite round, not so sweet, a lot of character, a bit dry, I was expecting more judging by the reviews. Anyway recommendable to most I guess....
A good sipper with nice aroma. It is a mixture of smokey oak and walnut. Flavours change while drinking. It first tastes a bit harsh but becomes smoother and wider on the tongue as you drink it. I like it but for that price I would rather get a bottle of Gold of Mauritius Dark. All in all a good choice - try this one on the rocks!
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...

Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is a great rum of a beautiful 15 years old. It has an amazing brown colour. On the nose you get some chocolate, a full oaky smell and some fruits like bananas and raisins. On the palate the smells are confirmed, the first sip is thicker and is very sweet, it really fills your mouth and the alcohol sticks on your tongue for quite a while, but not in a bad way. It's a great rum that really stands for Guyana and the Fuller style of rum.
