El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Good Rum If you like the sweet ones.
Caramel, vanilla, flower.
Perfect on the Rocks.
This is a really yummy sipping rum. A bit sweet but with awesome vanilla, butterscotch and banana aromas. I like this when I want a little "dessert".
One of my all time favorites. This rum is so flavorful and smooth. I was amazed how it makes the 12 year look like a mixing rum if you are to compare them.
Dark caramel and some fruit on the nose...Rich palate with vanilla, coffee, and brown sugar. Sweet but very pleasant.
Based on the reviews I recently purchased at bottle of the El Dorado 15 and all I can say is ...... bleh! It is very astringent.. little on the nose and a very sharp finish.. am currently tasting it against a Diplomatico Reserva.. Β£ 20 cheaper and there is no comparison... very disappointing
Yes, I know El Dorado "doses" their rums. I'm not normally a fan of overly sweet rum, but I have a soft spot for El Dorado. For a long time, El Dorado 3 Year was the standard "mixing" rum in my cocktail cabinet. I received the 12 year as a gift a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I bought a bottle of El Dorado 15 when it was on sale and I was pleasantly surprised.
Nose: brown sugar, molasses, coffee, a bit of orange
Palate: rich (because of the dosing?), tobacco, caramel, oak, espresso, vanilla
Finish: medium length, with a nice mix of sweetness (caramel and vanilla) and bitterness (espresso and dark chocolate).
Nice full flavour of raisins, quite sweet initially with quite a long warmth. Pretty nice, but not as good as you'd expect for the price
Your review β you could include things like ......
Love the El Dorado rums. Smooth rum and very tasty. The 21 year old is typically twice the price but Iβd have to think about whether itβs worth two bottles of the 15.
Smells of paint thinner. Much too strong on the nose. The aroma does revela distinctive fruit flavors such as cherry, orange, and banana.
Sipping it neat was not pleasant. The initial flavor follows the same fruity notes that are in the nose, however the banana comes in strong for me throat the middle.
As this rum goes does it leaves a distinct burn that some might enjoy. I however am not a fan of this particular burn.
Much more plaetteable on the rocks.
Much better rums at this price.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum is nice the drink by itself no mixers. It has a sugary taste and great aroma. The color is a nice dark colored. There is no bitterness to the taste and goes down nice. I was very happy to see them sell it here in Florida. Most of the people I share it with loves it.
