El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

While I recognize this is a solid run, I don’t care for the flavor profile. It’s a little chemically or medicinal finish to me. It may be the Jamaican style I don’t care for. It reminds me a little of the way a peaty scotch finished. I prefer bourbon and American / Canadian whiskey to peaty scotch, so that probably explains it. It’s not the age either I don’t think since I prefer the El Dorado 12 to the 15 or 21.

I've always heard so much about El Dorado and wanted to try it for myself and let me tell you I was not disappointed. A moderate price for an excellent rum. Opening the bottle right off the bat I get aromas of dark chocolate and vanilla. The taste not too sweet but very rich and bold with a very smooth finish. This is the perfect rum for when I want to sit down an just relax. Dare I say one of my all time favorite.

Creamy mouth feel. Pleasant maple notes. Let this sit for 15 minutes, add an ice cube (if desired), and enjoy.

Tried this next to its younger brother. So different, but equally enjoyable.

I’m not exactly sure why but I prefer the 12 yr version to this. I think this is a little harsher on my pallet. Overall I think it is fine but I prefer the cheaper and younger version. Medium dark color, smooth and slightly sweet but balanced, harsh but light after taste.

Great sipping rum, a step up the 12 year however completely different flavor, rich vanilla notes... if you like scotch... you will love this rum!!!!

This rum is very easy to drink and well priced ...

Geruch nach getrockneten Feigen, Karamell, angenehm.
Farbe dunkler Bernstein
Geschmack süß, süße gut eingebunden, nicht aufdringlich aber present, Vanille, Pflaumen, Holznote, ein wenig Bourbon, im Abgang süss und herb zugleich mit Alkoholnote, nicht sofort weg, gefällig.

Fazit: einer von den Guten, und obwohl süss gut trinkbar ohne alle Geschmacksnerven mit Zucker zu verkleben.

Vyborny rum, vyvazena velmi intenzivna, robustna chut, s dlhsim dozvukom. Citrus, horka cokolada, zazvor, med - jemne sladsi, s naznakom dubovych sudov. Update 2022 - trosku viac prenika alkoholovy ton, davam dole bod. Testoval som novu 2021 sarzu.

I was lucky enough to find this Rum in Aldi in the UK one Christmas 1 year only maybe 5 years ago

Guess what no one knew what it was and it just sat on the shelf for weeks They don't promote the products in Aldi
So one lucky day the store manager discounted the Product to £10 a bottle little did I know what a gift that was at the time! Had been on sale for £42 all month .
Boy do I regret not buying all the discounted stock of course it's worth every penny wonderful Rum I still remember saying to myself just buy it all by the time I got home and sampled it it was too late to return to the store which I did the following day ! you know the rest as they say .
