El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Dlouho jsem se dostával k tomuto rumu než na j došlo. V přímém porovnání je to jemnější a chutnější 12. :) Schválně jsem chtěl přímé porovnání, neb cenový rozdíl není velký. EL Dorado 12 mi dost chutná a považuji jej za etalon mezi podobnými rumy. Dnes jsem konečně měl možnost porovnat nejen tyto dva, ale i El Dorado 21. U 15 cítím daleko méně vůně než u 12 a první doušek mne malinko zaskočil množstvím lihu v chuti. což byl nejspíše ještě vjem vůně ze skleničky. Poté přišla sametově jemná typická sladkost. Musel jsem se napít znovu. Rum je výborný a mohu jej doporučit, nicméně 12 zůstává v srci. ;-)

The mixture smells good, tastes sticky, doesn't give pleasure .,.,.,. Аромат быстро разносится вокруг: бисквит, апельсин, бочка, хлебная корка, пробивается резкость. Вкус резкий и сладкий как тёмный квас или напиток Байкал, подкопчёный, маслянистый, тяжёлый, лакричный. Раздражает рот, появляется приторность, голову ненадолго сдавливает. Настроение не поднимает совсем. Читал, что в него смешивают ром с разных производств. Догадываюсь, что в него добавлен сахар для сглаживания неровностей. Посредственный получается ром, несмотря на яркий аромат и выдержку в 15 лет. Повторно бутылку не куплю, но в баре одну рюмку возможно.

Not as smooth or sweet as the 12 year. Nose has a strong acetone scent. Strong citrus notes and smooth on the tongue.

Nose: Caramel, brown sugar, light pepperiness, milk chocolate,
Palate: Caramel, Earl grey tea, milk chocolate, tannin bitterness, very oaky, oak vanillin, less sweetness than the ED12 but still definitely sugared, but not to it's detriment.
Finish: Tannins, vanillin, oak and light white pepper spice, leather also emerges, turns to slightly watery in the end.
Disappointing, not very flavourful, quite light, almost more light than ED12 which is disappointing but less sweet which is a good thing.
I was too sweet, to arteficail sweetness, No good one it's one, only in cocktail

Delicious rum with fruity alcohol aroma. Taste of dried fruit with vanilla at the end. Like that one!

i found this at a liquor store while traveling. The reviews were stellar and so at just under $50 I looked forward to sampling. What a huge disappointment. The next day I tried it again. No doubt it's smooth enough but the bottom line is it tastes like a good bourbon has been mixed with a mild an unassuming rum. It's like a slightly sweet, mild bourbon. The rest of the bottle will probably sit there a while.
