El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Well served and enjoyed...another keeper
This one has a thick molasses/caramel nose right out of the gate. You can tell this one is going to be a good Demerara right away.
Flavor is rich cocoa, brown sugar notes. smooth afterburn, nothing too harsh.
A deep color, yet not as dark as some decent and cheaper Demeraras.
I've bought this one at least twice now, it makes a good rich flavoured painkiller. (pussers don't be trying to sue me..)
This one is a bit pricier than I'd like it to be, but it's still a good choice if you are looking for a quality Demerara.
strong & powerful
I bought a bottle of this as my introduction to El Dorado. I really like to sip it. The 21 YO is in it's own class, but you will not be disappointed with the 15.
Very good rum with great power but what the hell is this sugar added value?
Too much sugar for me. This demerara deserved better treatment. No sugar would be great !
The El Dorado Special Reserva 15 Years is a blend of pot and column distilled rums from Guyana. In the process, wooden boilers are used. The rum is said to have been stored in Ex Bourbon barrels for between 15-25 years. In the end, the blend ends up with 43% alcohol in the typical El Dorado bottle. In addition to sugar caramel for the colour, it is likely that sugar has been added.
In the nose, the rum is quite strong. Spice and toasted flavors are there, but he is also slightly fruity and sweet. And there is a sharp alcohol bite. With a little time in the glass, this gets better. But it doesn't go away completely. On the palate, the rum is relatively sweet. There is a little acid and fruit. Honey notes are recognizable. But also nice wood. The body is full but could be artifical from the sugar. Unfortunately, the sharpness is not very balanced here either. It clearly accompanies the finish which contains woody sweet barrel notes. Maybe some liquorice.
Overall, the rum is not bad but does not quite meet my personal taste. He's too sweet for that. Even if this is not immediately recognizable as artificial. If you like it, you can get a solid rum here for 40 euros. If you like it dry, e.g. Mount Gay I would rather advise not to buy this one.
Good flavor of fruit then oak. Nice for a sip but too heavy for multiple drinks.
One of the good "beginners" rums on a higher end side. Not too sweet, great flavor, only thing separating it from next level is the smoothness.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
