Nice clear amber with copper reflections in the glass.
In the nose very discreet, restrained and balanced. Chocolate, caramel, wood, resin, vanilla, candied tropical fruits and spices are all well balanced.
On the palate chocolate and wood aromas fight for dominance. Caramel, vanilla and candied fruit do not know which side to take.
In the finish some chocolate and single fruits remain in memory.
A 29 year old Solera, the oldest rum is 29 years old, but how much of it ?
Would have expected a little more body, a pity at this price. For solo lovers with a large purse. -8

This is an excellent sipping rum, nice aroma, reminiscent of a fine cigar. Very smooth, great finish, no harshness to it at all. Should have bought it in London as it is not sold in the USA, unfortunately.

Rum tasting in New Orleans continued onwards with Rum Malecon 1979. Very nice bottle and label design surrounded by a hand blown glass case. Dark mahogany color. Caramel, vanilla, nuts and oh so much sweetness to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Super sweet burn at the end. It would be a spectacular rum when less sweet.
