I have been on a journey visiting several rum distilleries in the Caribbean - including four in Barbados, one in Dominican Republic, one in Antigua, and heading to Jamaica later this year for another distillery visit. I have sampled many rums from all over the Caribbean and I can definitely say the Foursquare creates by far the most consistently incredible rums - from their signature Foursquare, to Doorly's, to R.L. Seale, to Real McCoy. The self guided tour and rum tasting is a must for anyone visiting Barbados!
Keep creating those fabulous rums.

Very heady, sweet caramel. Enjoyable with an ice cube, and an afternoon with nothing to do. Makes me think of a nice cedar sauna.
A beautiful expression of Barbados rum. Unsweetened, spirit-forward, with a shockingly delicious finishing.

Nice rum and something different. You can taste the Zinfandel very well. Quite liked it!

Very rich and mellow taste, yet completely dry. Very drinkable as well at 43% abv (a lot of Foursquare rums are much higher in alcohol). Sadly it isn't available anymore.

The Foursquare Zinfandel is an excelent and tasty Rum! Love the zinfandel cask blend! Lucky i got two bottles when it was still available.
Light fruity strawberries, a great mix of vanilla and spicy notes on the mid palate.
"The finish is long and nicely oaked β the initial sweetness of the sip gives way to the oak and spice from the bourbon casks."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Since I absolutely hate rums aged in sherry or madeira casks, and port is a close cousin to both of these, I have held off on trying anything from this distiller who likes to use port casks. This one is aged partially in zinfandel casks, and this varietal happens to be my favorite. I was still hesitant to try this one until I read all of the reviews. At only $52, I deemed it to be worth the gamble. Since this is a dry rum, that was an added bonus.
The aroma is nothing to write home about except for some of the alcohol vapors breathing off. The taste on the tongue is peppery and a thin mouthfeel because of it having no added sugar. The aftertaste has a very faint hint of zinfandel and oak with no after burn. This rum went through a very complex blending process, but it really amazes me how the final product is just pure and simple rum. If the info on it's blending had not been shown, I seriously doubt that anyone could guess all the trouble that went into making this fine rum.
