It wasbmy second taste with Plantation family. The first one was amazing Original Dark, with very good value. This one is a big dissapointed for me. I paid for it about 22 euro (Original Dark 13) and i definitely not bought it anymore. For me, still the Best rums in this budget are Plantation Original Dark and Havana 7 anos.
Its pretty cheap drink, i prefer a lot the 20yo version over this. Any time any day.
The smell is really odd, I would not guess Barbados at all, it is rather fermented apples and honey. In the taste the citrus fruits are rather thin, there are some odd notes of fermented apples again masked with honeyed sugary ending which seems quite artificial. The taste profile is fruity, reminds me of rum liqueurs with artificial flavouring, it also reveals, quite biting rum base underneath, too rough for the price. Mixing with coke makes a drink which does not taste much as a rum and coke to me. The sweetness is quite pronounced in this rum despite the producer claims just 15-20 g/l of sugar has been added. If you like rum liqueurs with artificial flavors, or if you like sweet rums, add two stars.
Golden in the glass, oily with lots of girls legs when swirled. Sweet, fruity and a little spicey on the nose. Mild and fruity palate. Medium long sweet finish.
Necítil som to, čo by som mal cítiť. Sladký a na záver štiplavý
Very sweet, very fruity, one of the better cheap rums.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The Plantation Barbados Grand Reserva is a blend of molasses rums that were stored for about 5 years. There is also the Grand Reserva 5 years. I had several bottles of both and there is hardly any difference. The rum is not ideal for sipping, as in addition to its pleasant sweet caramel note with slightly fruity tones such as orange, it also has a clearly perceptible sharpness and the alcohol seems too present while drinking. For mixing cocktails or simply in cola, the rum is absolutely top. Here it unfolds really well. One of the best rums that i have used for mixing. It makes some competition for Havana Club.
I don't really rate rums for mixing, as I find it difficult to rate them. The Grand Reserva from Plantation can also be drunk pure without many problems if you don't want or can't spend much money. For less than 20 euros, it is clearly preferable to all competitors in this price range, such as Bacardi and Co.
