Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Smells wrong. The smell bites like a nail polish remover. Tastes like too many things. Cinnamon, apple, pineapple, and something bitter? I don’t mix, so not sure what to do with this. It also weirdly bites the tongue, not as if it was alcohol, but an old liquid.
Vůně: Je příjemná, sladší. 6/10
Koupil/nekoupil znovu: Nekoupil
This is one of the plantation rums which is poor but not obviously amazing ... Decent flavour
Tasty but Not quite on par with the other plantations.
I remember very strong apple and cinannmon flavour..not good.
Not bad not great... ok to the Price.... fairly ok in coke
Its a oke rum with a bit light colour, Hash aftertaste and many added sugars.
Double aged, initially Bourbon casks in Barbados then Ferrand Cognac barrels in France.
Dried banana on the nose with a spiritey component.
On the tongue quite sweet 4-5/5, vanilla and banana dominating with an Esther aftertaste.
Short sharp burn, nothing lasting.
Reasonable value for money but to cloying for me. And not like a Mount Gay XO or one of the superb Foursquares.
Very sweet artificial head. First touch is sweet, vanilla, some coco? Goes down easily and not much burn. But does not offer very much excitement. It’s sippable...but it definitely does not work with coke - too sweet. Havent tried it in coctails yet...and probably won’t, because it’s a dull bottle overall. A regular white agricole offers much more excitement and power. Torn between 5 and 6.
One of the better rums that I've tasted that are not super spiced or dark. Maybe I buy a one bottle more, and who knows, maybe I change my mind and raise this a one rank up. In any case, this rum left a good impression.
Sweet taste, with nice shades of crack, vanilla and banana.
Prekaza mi i prerazajuca chut alkoholu.
I have got Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve as a gift from my teammates and it was probably one of worst rums I have drunk yet, flavour seems OK, but taste is horrible, I can not detect fruits because taste is very peppery, I really do not like it.
Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve has a strong alcohol smell to it, mixed bag of flavors and a strong afterburn, so stick with rum-and-coke and do not venture out with neat sipping on this one. Plantation Barbados Grande Reserve is million miles away from Barbados XO 20th Anniversary rum, but only a fractional price difference.
If they did not tell me on the label, I would not know this to be a Barbados rum. The sweetening and the cogac casking hides its identity, as usual, and makes it bland and sugary. Yuck.
I have got two bottles as a gift and finally tried it. Plantation website says it is aged ~2 years at Barbados and ~1 year in Europe. It is young rum and it is obvious here..smell is good and strong, taste is quite thin, not complex, with a quite strong aftertaste. Sweetnes is well balanced but overall I dont like it straight. In mixed drinks, it is okay
Very light, oak present but not assertive, buttery(?) on the nose. A “silent spirit”. Infamous Plantation syrup / sweetness lingers in at the end.
Light rums often tend to be biting but this one seems less offensive. The slight honeyed sweetness definitely cuts some of that.
Sehr schwach.
Drank plantation barbados with few friends together with plantation guatemala. We all found it somewhat chemical and this was pretty much the only time we had to force ourselves to finish the bottle. From all the good reviews I guess I will have to give it one more try and maybe reconsider afterwards. Maybe a bad bottle?
My first sip was actually not bad. The taste was a bit flowery and sweet. I might enjoy this, I thought. My second sip was in the same vein, although I felt I had tasted something similar before. My third sip, however, made me realize where I had tasted this before. Or actually smelled it: In the IKEA flower and scented candles section. And I hate that section. After a few more tries I came to the conclusion: This rum is fine for 1-2 sips or shots, but devastatingly flowery for any longer sessions. It might be good for mixing, but I don't generally mix drinks as I like them neat with a chaser, so I won't know. Sorry, Barbados. I won't be seeing you again...
